Bullsh*t thread.

Good thing you haven't lost your job to his policies yet.

I think all the security/SecService costs would be similar if he had travelled to the Dennys in Arlington, so that's moot, especially since protection of him is pretty much already budgeted. So is travel, whether it be to Texas or NYC.

How obtuse can you be?

Gee HOZ, since you're asking us all to be so intuitive... can you not see that the cost of flying and landing a small private jet is far smaller than a large 747?

Come back to us with costs or description of what the Secret Service did for an escort before we get collectively get our panties in a knot.

But...but...HOZ said it costs at least $100K to land in NYC. Your link says the most expensive airport in the world charges a landing fee of "only" $8777 for a 747-400.

The Air Transit Association of Canada is obviously a biased pro-Obama liberal media outlet.

Landing in NYC is less than $5K. Plane was $24K. Total extra costs of going out was less than $30K. Not a huge deal HOZ just wants to make it into one!

To be perfectly fair, Bush was continually harassed about the smallest of incidents throughout his tenure as President. Personally I don't see a huge deal with Obama going on a date just as I don't see an issue with Bush taking time off to go to a Ranch. I am sure that in both cases they were not out in the middle of nowhere without any connection to the outside world. Past that how many of you have gone on vacation only to bring along some work.... maybe the president isn't that much different.

Yeah, this thread is flat out ridiculous. Obviously someone has it out for Obama and anything remotely "unjust" will draw that ire.

Even if it did cost 1-2 Million(which is HIGHLY doubtful) it's not like the U.S. has one big pot of cash that doles out money to the people and Obama dipped into it. Gimme a break. The White House clearly has a budget set each year which it must adhere to...

This thread is a little scary actually.

Yer right. But that is the cost in 2004 for just touching the tired down. Docking + refueling + whatever else they charge is ignored. But I will hedge my bet at 100K

But then we must have another plane lifting the presidential limo and escort team.

I hear he nodded his head at a Pakistani cab driver. That's practically bowing. Which means the US is going to kowtow to Muslim interests.

Gentlemen...it has been a slice. But I have to go to bed. Good to see Obamaniacs are still going strong. Seriously....do you really think that night out was less than a million? Lets say it was slightly less than flying the plane past the statue of liberty. Say 300K. Do you really think that is ok after he has just axed 30,000 jobs?

Very sad leadership.

Quoting you from earlier in the thread:

Quote:
1. Super advanced 747 (with pilots) fly with rapter escort
2. Week in advance panning to scout, cordon off dangerous roadways and to choose restaurant and show
3. Police escort
4. landing fees for airport (at least 100Gs)
5. surveillance as though he was on a foreign trip (always estimated at close to 1 million)
You said nothing of refueling or anything else. You specifically stated that "landing fees" cost at least $100k. After HOOT called you on that ridiculous claim (and supported his argument with facts, something you have yet to do in this thread), you're now trying to say that what you said isn't actually what you meant.

Are you going to keep moving the goalposts every time your points are shot down?

[Edit]
Ah, I see you've posted to say that you're no longer going to participate in this discussion...the final "out" for someone once they realize their arguments have been completely and thoroughly eviscerated.

I'd be interested to see a few things.

Obviously Hoz to me is right about a few things.

Usually if the president flys into a airport, they're going to shut down areas of that airport and they're going to shut down airspace.

I'd be interesting to see the secret service contingent, size wise and how they were deployed. Did they suborn members of the NYC police department?

Yes they used a gulfstream, but did they fly the super limo and all the other required vehicles in.

I'd bet that its more then 24 thousand bucks to take care of all of the logistics of the thing.

Remember that in terms of the Presidents visit to Toronto, the cost was $4.4 million Canadian and that was for a very simple visit, with one brief trip to the mall. This was basically a tourist trip to New York.

You know what HOZ, had you come on here and asked us the question - "Is this the best time for Obama to be spending tax payer's dollars in such as fashion?" - You probably would have gotten a better debate. I think we can all concede the optics suck of an elected official unnecessarily spending public dollars.

Instead, parroting the sensationalistic Fox News approach of "OBAMA BAD, ALL THE TIME" with a poorly substantiated argument.. sorry man, not sure what you really expected us to respond with.

I'm willing to bet the cost was pushed into the upper hundreds of thousands, if not $1MM. As Cpt Crunch pointed out, the security detail was the most staggering of costs for his trip to Ottawa. NYPD for one night is going to be costly.

Regardless, he is the President of the United States, and he will probably make decisions in the next hour that will cost millions, save millions, or generate millions.

Bad example or not, expensive travel, expensive security, expensive everything...it's the nature of the beast when you've got the most important and most stressful job in the world. He is allowed his night out, and it cost a lot of money. What else is new when you're President?
