Woah woah woah. No one wants her to leave her husband. CalgaryPuck, and it's citizens, respect the santitity of marriage. We just want to borrow her for a night or two. And that, is the sort of thing money can buy.

A guy from back home (Just east of Ottawa) won the double cash for life. He was 21 at the time. $2000 a week clear for 25 years........ Lucky SOB.

I would keep going to school, but not need work during the summer.

Quit in a heartbeat. Fill my time with creative projects, and probably buying some property in the wilderness and building a cabin. Not that I know how to build a cabin but I'd have lots of time to learn. Also spend time working with some charitable organizations. And lots of traveling.

The amount of money you need definitely depends on where you live. Down here that $40,000 wpuldn't go too far even without a mortgage But in other states it would be just fine.

Are there really quite a few people here that play the lottery?
My parents have played about $20 a week since the mid 80's. If they would have invested that money instead, they'd have in excess of $60 000-70 000. That's quite a bit of coin gone FLUUSSHHHHH down the toilet for a few daydreams.

$20 a week for 25 years is 26k. And i know you mean if they invested the 26k 25 years ago, but I'm sure that's not realistic.

I dunno what I'd do...I think I'd go crazy without work...of course I would go do all the traveling and everything I wanted to do, come back home and get down to business...probably buy the farm off of my parents and just jam out here. But I'd finish university first.

I would most certainly quit my current job, but I'd get into the stuff that I'd really like to be doing....
I don't think I could live on traveling, playing golf and laying in the sun. It might be fun for a few days, but I'd want to be DOING SOMETHING. So the things that I enjoy working at are videography, getting involved in local politics, perhaps go back and finish that environmental studies degree I started but never finished.

I would work for sure. Maybe things would change a little bit, but I doubt it. I'm way too young to just retire and travel.
Thing is that none of your friends/family would be able to take all of that time off with you unless you foot the bill for them. That might not sound like a big deal, until you realise that you are now paying for everything everytime for all of your friends.
I would keep it a secret for sure. I suppose I would tell my wife, but I might even try to avoid that and just invest it.

$1040/year at 5.5% interest over 25 years gives you $60095.55.

If I won enough I'd by some sort of sports team - meddle far too much in the day to day operations and run it into the ground.

One of my dreams in life is to become so stinking rich that I'd be able to buy the Oilers and fold the team the next day...but retain rights to the team in Edmonton. Thus preventing the grease from ever increasing.
I also forgot to add that I'd do a tonne of fishing and golfing. IT'd be a good time.

I'd also just join about 10 beer league hockey teams and play hockey 24/7

Imagine the stress over the next day if you won the Saturday 6/49 and had to wait until Monday AM to bring the ticket to their office to verify. That trip to the WCLC office would be a very careful one.
First things I'd do after confirming the win is call my financial advisor.
Second thing I'd do is call Telus and change my phone number and make it unlisted.
$5m tossed into an annuity would just replace salaries so we'd work some contracts for part of the year. Anything over $10m is a definite quit.

If the win is big enough I'd sell my company and quit working, even though I enjoy what I do. I'd spend my time traveling, investing in my childrens' education and lives, and doing community work. I'd really like to have the time to do a lot of community work. I think that would be very fulfilling.
And I'd take in every music festival in North America that's of interest to me. No, make that every festival of interest in the world.
Edit: I'd also get great vindication from telling my brother and his spawn to suck it, while giving my sister enough to solve her all her problems. Revenge is a dish best served cold. I guess I'm a bad person.

If I won the lottery, probably splurge a bit and invest most.
Job/work... I ask myself everyday, I'm 1/3 through my life or less and I still have no idea what I want to get out of this life. My parents tell me once I start having little s running around, I'll know but at the moment... not too sure what the end game is.
