i did the update...i was wondering why i suck even more now. there is a noticable increase in penalties (interference, high stick, roughing). ai seems smarter.

Yeah, if you sucked at positioning before, then the patch will only exacerbate the fact that you're out of position and not blocking lanes. Actually the only good thing about the patch is that when I'm the lone forward vs. 2 defensemen in a break out situation, I can still wallop the D who had the puck last. (but would be a penalty in any other situation)
If anything I spam poke check more than ever. Although I do go through stretches of interference calls. The other thing is if you are in a EASHL situation is to skate next to an opposing human player and they might hammer you and you can draw the call.
Of course, you have to be careful with that checking button as well.

I can't believe how many checking from behind penalties I get. I didn't even realize that penalty was in the game.

Anyone else keep getting booted off online play? They say it's an error in their server.

Wow... is it only me but EVERY fricking cross ice one-timer is a automatic goal? The major difference between the last patch and this one is that you have to worry more about cross ice passes than defending behind the net and in front for those cheap slap shot-short side goals. Also, more sensitive penalties are handed out which gets really frustrating.

with the new update, in addition to the penalties, it seems that you have to work 'extra hard' to score goals...whereas the the cpu just gets lucky bounces.
...or, i just suck at this game.

i have found it easier to score as i never knew how to do any of the goals that were removed. now i find that my regular shots have a better chance of going in.

Update on the 360 patch. So far the estimation from my EA rep is that the patch will finally drop next week. It hasn't gone back to EA or anything like that. Just still waiting for approval and launch.

Can't wait until the 360 patch it out. My record is pretty good on Live (Around 72-35-9), but I get beaten with so many cheap goals in infuriates me. I don't know if these are cheap, but guys always do a quick wrap around on me and score. They attempt this move so many times. Some guys will come behind the net and when they reach the red goal line, they take a slapper and it usually always goes in. Another one is the anoying short side goal.

I hated that, but I also did it a few times.
When guys scored every single goal with a cheese goal short side I would just tel them to **** off in my mic and quit.
I've never scored a cheese goal in over 130 games.

If someone quits on a ranked game, does the other side get a win? In the summary emails it sends out afterwards, it scores it as a win, albeit an incomplete game.
So when people bail on me, am I only getting a moral victory, or is it helping my ranking? Ranked games are the only type I play

I think I always got wins when people quit. I'm not even playing online now until that patch comes out. Some losers with no lives just ruined the experience for me. I got fed up with cheese goals over and over.

I think if you are winning, you get the win. But if it's tied during the first two periods and someone quits. It counts as nothing.
At least that is what has happened when the little s quit on me. Every other game it seems. 3 games these past couple of days some crappy player falls ass backwards into a tie against me and quits in the middle of the second. Waste of my time.
