Then he didn't do anything for the next 3. Anyways that five goal game was just nuts...everytime he shot it, it went in.

Good times though.
He obviously trained with Huselius in the off season.

My buddy and I are playing a Kings dynasty together...after the second game we traded Brown, Labarbara and a pick for Lundqvist cause he was just letting in so many crappy goals.

Speaking of QC I've been playing my heart out hoping to get called up, have 21 points in 21 games. 13 goals, 8 assists. Tops on the team and next best is Boyd with 12 points and Nystrom with 11.

So yeah I get a notice of your future message, I'm thinking yes! finally I can play with the big boys. Sorry this is difficult to tell you but you've been traded to Detroit, thanks for your hard work.

I started a "be a pro" season using Huselius, and he has 8 points in 5 games so far, but all of those points came in 2 games. Of course, the coach has already told me to get my act together and bring it game in and game out, or I'll be off the top line.

This is the most realistic game of all time.

Only few more games until you end up in Keenan's doghouse. I wonder if that'll be more realistic than sitting in a penalty box.

I just played it for the first time last night. I like it. I loved 08, and yeah, there isn't a whole lot of change, so that's fine by me. One thing I did notice, though and I wanted to see if anyone else noticed this. The shots just aren't that fast. In 08, when you let a slapshot go, it would just rip by goalie is ring it off the post. Same with a wrist shot, there just isn't that much velocity on the shot. Now, a slap shot kind of looks like a floater by comparison. Maybe it's just me.

I think you can always adjust the shot speed in the game setting.
If you were playing NHL 08 on the computer or PS2, then they got like one default shot speed when you press a button.

Anybody else notice how moronic your teammates are on BAP mode? When my player is not on the ice, my teammates won't shoot the puck. Thay pass it around the offensive zone and stand in one place just waiting to get hammered and turn over the puck. Or they'll get a breakaway and drift off to the corner...drives me nuts!

I agree with the previous poster too who said if they don't score, your teammates don't score either.... A couple games I've had, I'd be the only getting goals (and I made my pro to be a grinder)...

I play the game on superstar setting, so I don't know if my teammates act like morons to make the game harder or what.

As with most new features in an EA game, they're overused the first year, and EA will tweek them in the next few years so they work right, but for now, I find that move a bit annoying.
I like the stick lift feature alot, it makes the game seem more realistic, no NHL player is going to watch you skate by with the puck if he can just smack your stick out of the way. You really have to use the body to protect the puck (much easier to do with the checking toned down) and make quicker passes.

I agree..people tend to underestimate how many times sticks get lifted during the course of a real NHL game. As you say, the feature forces you to play more strategically, you can't just go end to end anymore. It forces more passes, which forces more turnovers/mistakes, which makes for a more unpredictable gameplay experience. So far my gripes with the game are related to the soundtrack, and even that can be changed. EA really did a stellar job with the game IMO.

I like that actually..in 08 every shot was way to hard and accurate. In 09 its a little more rare to really get a hold of one. I also like that hitting posts are toned down and shooting wide is more frequent.

Just the other day I rifled a slapshot off the crossbar with Iggy, and it seemed like a cool play..but in 08 it never would've stood out because I'd do that at least 5 time a period.

I haven't seen this picture posted anywhere. I found this picture of Phaneuf doing motion capture for NHL 09 on the nhl.com site.

I hear you, I was having the same problem. The game worked fine for about 5-7 games then after that everytime I would load a game it would do the unreadable thing. I connected to Xbox live and as soon as I connected it said I had to update with a new software. Since then it has been working fine, Ive probably paid about 15-20 games since then and I have not had the problem. Try connecting to xbox live and make sure you have an updated software and see if that helps.

It's EA that's the POS I can play my xbox with anyother game for hours on end without issue, only really got Unreadable disc errors from GTA occasionally and TigerWoods'08, the Clear Cashe is singing out of your profile go to your memory management and accessing your HD and pressing X X Left Button Left Button Right Button Right Button X X I found after I did it the game worked but it's definately a temp fix.

Turns out there is a modifier for checking. It makes the stick poke check instead. I don't use it though because once I ended up pokechecking away a pass on a two on one lol.

Anyways I think this is my game of the year. It takes the fun of clans in shooters like socom, team fortress or halo and puts it in a sports game. We have a fun thing going with the cpfatas and the level up system is really addictive.

Someone's gonna have to explain how the level up system works.
So you just collect online hockey cards and you get 3 attribute points or something? Is that it?

Not disappointed at all, love the small changes and I'm enjoying more than '08 already.
