I think I was the only one enjoying the Lupe act as everyone in my section kept asking "What's this guy saying?"

NERD was good too, except no one really knows their stuff. That Canadia comment was hilarious!

Rhianna was alright, nothing really special about her performance, except when Chris Brown came out.

Kanye was unreal, I've gotta say he exceeded my expectations. The stage was unreal, the sets he threw down worked well with his interludes. And to end it with Lupe, just a great all around show!!
what'd you think of matt santos the singer that was with lupe?

Don't worry, I'm 18 and I still don't know who any of these people are (except Kanye West). Haha.

I don't really get what all the fuss was about. Almost everyone I know practically killed themselves trying to get tickets for this show. I can imagine that the concert would be fun for the crowd interaction, but other than that, what's the attraction?

Is the music really that good? Was Oprah at the 'Dome giving away free convertibles? I just don't understand why everyone I know is calling it "the best concert of all time". Haha.

I guess it helps if you actually like that kind of music, though.

that was my biggest problem with kanye. he didn't really interact with the audience all that much. it was too much like a broadway production than an actually concert.

Really? That sucks. I would have thought it'd be the total opposite.

Yeah same that's why N.E.R.D was so good. Pharelle really knows how to get people hyped up even if they don't know his music

Overall a great show, perhaps the best Ive seen. W00t
man that's a great tune. One of my faves for sure. Glad to hear he performed it...

I'd love to see this show. I think I read that much of the lighting was influenced by his pals Daft Punk and their last world tour.

Agree, i'm actually shocked that people thought it was such a great show. He just stood there and talked with some mothership voice in between songs. Sunk his band in the ground and stood there as a one man show...like the arrogant guy that he is. About three references to "your the biggest star in the universe" I get that rap is all about arrogance, but far from the best show I had ever seen...far from. Let your fans determine if you are the biggest star, rather than proclaiming it over and over.

Santos was great, he did three or four songs and I was almost feeling like he was stealing the show because a majority of the people only know Lupe's hooks and thus seemed to appreciate him a lot. The guy has a lot of talent.

I agree with an Pagal 4321 about how very few people seemed to know who Lupe was (until they played Superstar), kind of disappointing, but maybe this will lead them to check out his stuff.

I thought it was funny. Everyone knows he is like that, that is no secret, he even made a joke about it when he said he would "prmise not to freak out at award shows".

He isn't nearly the most arrogant person I have seen in concert, I went to Coachella last month and Prince would stop before a song ended and demanded people call his name, he would also say make everyone say how great he was, prince this, prince that. His show was good also.

Nice glad to hear someone else really liked him. I got to meet him and Chris Brown this monday. Chris Brown was cool but kinda stuck up but Santos is probably the most down to earth guy ever. He was telling me he's actually a folk singer and told me to check out some of his stuff. I did and it's pretty good.

It's a damn shame that know one knows who lupe fiasco is as in my mind he's way better than kanye. I think lyrically people don't get him. It's the same thing with N.E.R.D. Amazing band with some amazing music but it's not mainstream therefor people don't really get it.

Nobody's ego will ever come close to Billy Corgan's (Smashing Pumpkins) - he is so self-absorbed his hair fell out. I saw them twice during their original run; the first time, at the Dome in 96, I recall some pretty arrogant stage banter but it was such a rocking show I didn't really care, but then I saw them again right before they dismantled, at Summersault in 2000, and it was pathetic because they had lost all their cachet by that point and he was STILL full of himself. I remember thinking "good riddance" as they finally exited the stage after boring everyone to sleep with the crappy material from that Machines of the Gods CD. Small wonder Corgan's attempt to bring SP back last year was unsuccessful.

Anyway.

I would have given my left nut to be at that show last night and I am very jealous of those who were. KW definitely has an ego but I think it's all part of the act. I don't think I'd hang out with the guy but I like his music and it sounds like he put on a great show. Lucky SOBs.

Santos has an unreal voice, you can take that away from his appearances on Lupe's tracks, but last night he was amazing as well.

And it's true, I'm sure more people like Santos than Lupe, for those that don't appreciate his music.
Thankfully I bumped into some Lupe fans that appreciated his performance just as much as I did. I could probably sit through an entire Lupe Fiasco performance of him just singing song from Food & Liquor.

edit: Just downloaded my video's from my camera, and got some good clips of Santos and Lupe.

I went to that show in Edmonton and I remember that vividly. A Perfect Circle, the Foo Fighters and especially OLP (surprisingly enough..) ripped it up that night... and the Pumpkins were godawful. So bad.

It's a shame that more people haven't heard stuff by Lupe and N.E.R.D. Two great acts...The Cool is one of the best albums this year in any genre IMO. It's hard to argue with the talent of N.E.R.D. too. It's too bad that these guys don't get more fanfare and the mainstream has embraced stuff like Soulja Boy.

I'm a big fan of Kanye the producer... not so much of Kanye the rapper. That said, that man knows how to put on a live show. I was actually quite impressed.

It was a Good show... but that doesn't touch the Roots, Mos Def and Talib Kweli show I went to a couple of years ago. That was unreal.

So I just got back from Bonnaroo two days ago and had to bump this thread. I cannot believe anybody enjoyed this steaming pile of crap. Kanye was supposed to play Bonnaroo on the Which Stage (the smaller stage) at 8:15 on Saturday night, but whined to the festival staff that he needed it to be perfectly dark for his glow show so they moved him to the What Stage (the main stage) and put his performance at 2:45 a.m.

Pearl Jam played the What Stage and ended at about 1 AM. Kanye's start time changed from 2:45 to 3:15 and then to 3:30. He finally came out at 4:27 AM, at which point the sun was coming up, completely eliminating the "glow" effect. Meanwhile the crowd kept chanting "Kanye Sucks!" and threw glowsticks at the stage.

His show had to the cheesiest pile of trash I've ever seen, with such memorable quotes as 'It's been so long...I REALLY NEED SOME P*SSY!!!' before launching into "Goldigger". Absolutely brutal.

On Sunday everyone walked around yelling "F*** KANYE!" and then Robert Randolph got a "Kanye Sucks!" chant going at his show. Kanye is the most egotistical ass I've ever seen.
