I think it is a very good point that most of those early 90s bands are either gone or make music for top 40 radio now. To say they sold out is perhaps a bit strong (my GD comment was more of a joke) I think they've just grown up.... some bands this works for (Pearl Jam is one) and others it just doesn't (Offspring).
What kind of records do you think Kurt would be making now? I sometimes wonder if he would have gone the STP route (destroyed by drugs), the Tool route (constantly reinventing themselves) or the Chili Peppers route (got old and crappy).
Always confused that Billy Corgan hasn't written a good song in close to ten years either
BTW listening to The Slip right now and I must say I'm enjoying it so far.
Also: my return to Cowtown coincides nicely with this show. Sweet.
