When the hell did I say that the Chilli Peppers have lost all credibility? I just said that their recent stuff has sucked!

And ok then Green Day have been sell outs since 94 who Fing cares? Fact is they aren't relevant anymore because they make meaningless drivel.

Did it occur to you that I like them because they are relevant, not that they are relevant because I like them?

Hey, here's a better thread for you:

Hey. I am not saying NIN aren't relevant....But Reznor is certainly no more relevant than a handful of bands that you listed. Many people would say that both Green Day and RHCP have come off the albums of their careers....but because you don't like it it sucks? Or is mindless drivel?
I do find it mildly amusing that a fan of this machine music would call a band like Foo Fighters reptitive though.

Really? People say that? Have these people heard Blood Sugar?

Also: Green Day sold out in '97.

I think it is a very good point that most of those early 90s bands are either gone or make music for top 40 radio now. To say they sold out is perhaps a bit strong (my GD comment was more of a joke) I think they've just grown up.... some bands this works for (Pearl Jam is one) and others it just doesn't (Offspring).

What kind of records do you think Kurt would be making now? I sometimes wonder if he would have gone the STP route (destroyed by drugs), the Tool route (constantly reinventing themselves) or the Chili Peppers route (got old and crappy).

Always confused that Billy Corgan hasn't written a good song in close to ten years either

BTW listening to The Slip right now and I must say I'm enjoying it so far.

Also: my return to Cowtown coincides nicely with this show. Sweet.

Yeah I just heard that new Offspring single. I'm having a hard time taking them seriously- we've all heard Pretty Fly.. ugh.

Exactly. I wouldn't say Green Day sold out but Offspring sure did. Smash was an amazing album with real punk/grunge feel. Two albums later for Americana their making joke songs like Pretty Fly and Get a Job to be played on Lite 96.

I'm just going to try to get tickets on Fri. I normally love being on the floor, but I remember last NIN concert (or maybe Tool, or both?) the floors were very organized and you couldn't really move around. If you were near the middle or back you might not be able to see much.

In 2005, I thought the crowd was crazier in Edmonton but the playlist and performance were better in Calgary. Can't wait for this year.

I saw them when they toured for With Teeth and it was awesome. I'm also seeing them at the Pemberton Festival this summer, which is just days before this concert in Calgary... wonder if I should still buy tickets though... hmmmmm.

Yup. Up in the 200's, unfortunately, but that's the best I could get.

Still, Im looking forward to it. Their last show in Calgary was killer.

I didn't read through the whole thread so forgive me if mentioned, and I tried looking online but didn't come up with anything.

Who is opening up for them, anyone?

A band named Crystal Castles seems to be one of the bands with them. I've never heard of them before.

Woo! Only 5 more hours! I'll be up in the 200's myself. This is going to rule.

I luckily scored some floor seats, missed their last show but heard it was awesome. Definately looking forward to tonight!

Show starts at 7pm, any idea what time NIN will take the stage? Is there just one opening band?

You can hear some of Crystal Castles stuff here:
