The nano, is good cause it's small and will display hers pictures.
Other then that, the one she has is equal or better.
If she's used to having a lot of musci on her 40 gig, and having all that music with her all the time she may not enjoy the restricted storage size of the nano.
I'd only get her the nano if it's right for her lifestyle. If she has a 40 gig, but only 5 gigs of music (like many people), if she goes to the gym or carries her ipod around with her alot, then get the nano.
Also, this was posted in another thread recently, but there's really good deals on refurbished nanos at the apple website. If you don't mind it coming in a plain cardboard box(instead of the coloured one), you could save alot of money that way.

Thanks, that's good advice. I'll look into it. I have a feeling she has tons of room on her current iPod. I think a large part of it is liking the way the Nano looks. Plus, I can engrave something mushy on the back if I want to.

Well, I decided that reason was good enough for me. I just ordered it.
That's the earliest I've ever had my shopping for her done...

Some really good ideas in this thread... so, I'll bump the old thing.
I really like the ideas of a complete night out with her friends. It suits my situation well. My wife is a pretty big hockey fan, so some Flames tickets works well into the night out. My brother, Dad, Uncle and I share 4 season tickets, but since we've had a baby, my wife rarely gets to go to any games. I think sacrificing a pair of my tickets would be a great jesture (I've been going to all my games still, and she has been kind enough to stay at home with baby).
My wife, to my suprise, also wants a Wii! It is going to be a biotch to track down though. Loving video games myself, I cant let this opportunity pass me by.
I've also considered a Nano, the 8gb version. She hinted at one for her birthday in July, but hasnt mentioned it since. Not sure if she still wants one or not.
Lets keep the ideas coming... there will be lots of husbands in dire straits this coming week.

Me,
I'm taking an early train tomorrow down to Ikebukuro here in Tokyo to stand in line for the chance to purchase a Nintendo DS.
For whatever reason, they are (still) almost impossible to find here still.

Good luck with that, as finding a DS Lite in Japan is harder then the Flames finding a Road Win . The reason is because it is the most popular system in Japan, at this rate even if Nintendo sent out a shipment of 1 million DS's a month they'd still sell out. It's also a great gift if you live in Japan as they have a multitude of non-traditional software for people of all ages.
