As for their rebuild, I remember Toews and Kane both tried to stop the Hawks from rebuilding, no? I am too lazy to check when players started getting shipped out. I am sure Foss will be in here and better able to speak to that than me, but I would be surprised if the Hawks have been rebuilding for 6 years already.

Crappy regular seasons doesn't mean your team is rebuilding.
See a lot of Oilers years. Did they ever tank? Maybe for Yakupov?

There are a lot of things CP moans about that are worth scoffing at, but sitting Parekh isnt one of them.

Pretty reasonable gripe to have, as a fan of a last place team in a so called rebuild.

Time for the flames to go on a run and ruin our chance at a rebuild.

I would have to go back and look to see if they did tank for Yakupov.. but I don't think so. I don't recall the Oilers tanking at all, but were simply a terrible organization. Maybe they did, however. I don't remember who they traded out that season, or if they 'helped' their own incompetence in clinching a bottom finish.

If they were sitting him out 3-4 games in a row then I get it. The complainers are acting like he needed to play all 82 games or his development would be ruined.

Fans of a last place team should realize he's a young player who isn't doing anything special right now, and he should sit a fair amount this year. Fans of a last place team should definitely not want us ruin young players by rushing them.

Parekh hasn't been terrible or anything, but he hasn't been doing anything incredible either. Sitting him is absolutely the right move.

Hey all!

The 'Hawks recently dumped some guys who weren't developing or who were unhappy. Dumping Lucas Reichel and letting Philip Kuroshev walk were the most notable subtractions. Cutting Velano, Joey Anderson, and TJ Brodie also made some room. Going much younger on Defense, with only, Murphy, and Grzelcyk being over 24.

Knight/Soderblom have been a solid goaltending tandem behind this defense.

Rumors have Bertuzzi being, let's say, displayed for deadline changes.

They are still mishandling Bedard's linemates, with Greene being swapped in, lately.

The 2nd line, usually with Teravainen/Nazar have been creating chances off of turnovers at the 'Hawk blue line. Nazar has surprising speed.

3rd Line with Donato/Mikheyev have also added more scoring punch from deeper in the depth chart, recently.

Defensively, Crevier and Vlasic have improved and are using their incredible reach to help with turnovers, and forward Teuvo Teravainen, is able to disrupt zone entries with confidence at the guys behind him.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some vets get moved towards the deadline, Bertuzzi or Dickinson for instance. Also I wouldn't be surprised if this was Foglino's last go around. My heart wouldn't break, either, if Connor Murphy gets moved, as DelMastro and Korchinski are waiting at the Rock.

I'll be hanging around in GT, and am looking forward to chatting with you fine guys/gals. Hoping that this 5th game of a 6 game road trip is competitive with no injuries for either team! Good Luck to you Flames' fans!

Curious on what you see as the best way to support Bedard? I know nothing about the 'Hawks but have felt like the best person they had to play with him was Hall and then they shipped him out.

Just giving him some consistent line mates would be where I'd start. I particularly like Teravainen, as a solid passing defensive forward to allow Bedard to take more gambles with the puck.

This. They're using is it as a learning tool and not punishment.

They are at game 5 of a 6 game road trip trip so I guess that was expected.

Wasn't there the much publicized 'Fall for Hall?'

If he scores a hat trick then you need to commit to going to the remainder of the home games.

Start a go fund me after the game.

The difference between an Oiler contention season and intentional tank is very hard to distinguish. Only the most experienced greaser observer can tell the difference.

Sadly, watching the Oilers that much leads to insanity.
