You still had in-market for regional and national games, unless it was like a game against Vancouver where you'd only get the regional coverage instead of the Flames coverage.

I looked back and when I first subscribed it was about $120 for out of market games. Then in 2021 it was $180, so $325 for a vastly subpar product is crazy.

You used to be able to pick which feed you wanted to watch, you could easily go back to see goals and they were marked along with period start and end, the browsing experience for games was so easy.. Sportsnet is just garbage.

The CRTC gave Rogers and Bell control of the whole Canadian media landscape. They allowed them to take over nearly all the other private-sector companies in the business. No startup company can compete with them, and no foreign company is allowed to enter the market. Does that answer your question?

I posted this elsewhere when playoffs started. I have TV sub in the US as well.

America does sports right. 4k Dolby vision Dolby atmos.

Sportsnet+ just gets worse and worse every year. 2 years ago the historic library went missing since then only have last 2 or 3 days of replays. Last year we lost multiview so can only watch one game at once. Then they lost WWE at Xmas. Somehow they’re able to make it worse lately where the stream randomly stutters at 5fps during heavy motion. And now they just signed another decade. God knows how they can make it worse, won’t be around to find out.

Guess jacking price up 30% for a worse service is a good way to make it worse lol.

Looks like I’ll be switching to US nhl sub this season.

Yeah but it was thus stupid decision between my wife’s local team or my out of market team. Couldn’t even watch the Flames Leafs game every year, which was like the one I wanted to watch the most.

Well that’s a silly comparison. It’s significantly more than TV streaming services. The TV market in North America is like 3x that of professional sports.

Absolutely no reason for such an increase, especially with how the quality of their mediocre product has flat lined. If they're not stepping up their production and attention to individual teams in smaller markets, why should people shell out more?

With prices climbing everywhere on necessities, people and especially families are going to have sports coverage down the list of priorities.

As for catching the games when its really wanted... yarrrr matey.

May I also say that (generally speaking) I hate price gouging when tariffs aren't a factor and the company knows full well what their consumer base is dealing with in the current economic climate.

Streaming app is garbage, streaming quality is garbage, production quality is hot garbage so let's increase the price. Maybe they need to build another weird stadium in the middle of no where.
