100%
his development is job 1. Making the playoffs is not.

Wolf's development is individually the priority. But Zary, Coronato, and the prospects are important as well. If they can do this, and get a superstar center, they'll be golden.

I foresee the Flames getting another 5 on 3 and I'm looking forward to players counting Mississippis while holding onto the puck.

I vote that I don't have to pay taxes any more. And that I live forever but don't age.

That would be a good Hitchcock/Twilight zone plot. Find the secret to living forever, but as a 90 year old. Aches, pains, poor eyesight, low bone density, no strength, bad memory. But somehow never die.

The Flames seem to feel that putting Wolf in a position to have individual success is more important for his growth than just starting as many games as possible. Whether Wolf could start more games, who knows. I have no doubt that he has benefited so far from the deployment strategy they are using though.
Vladar has started all 4 of the Flames back-to-back games this season. Eleven of Vladar's 18 starts have been against teams in the playoffs as opposed to Wolf's 7. Wolf has started 12 games at home as opposed to Vladar's 8.
Wolf is a fantastic young goalie, but I don't think he'd be having the same success rate without Vladar still taking the tougher assignments. I wouldn't be surprised if Wolf takes more games from him as the season progresses, but right now they both deserve to play.
|
Exactly. The Flames worst game this year against Tampa - no goalie wins that
In fact, consider the opponents the last 3 starts - Vladar has faced Vegas, Tampa and Ottawa
Wolf draws Chicago, SJ, and a dysfunctional Canucks team
Wolf is very good but it is beyond obvious that they are sheltering him

Full marks to the ownership in Utah for quickly and decisively taking big strides in removing the Coyote stink off this group.

Was really hoping I'd get to see Wolf tonight, after he sat when I went to watch the Wranglers last year. Never mind, next time.

You just described the Struldbruggs from Gulliver's Travels. They never died… but they never stopped aging either.
