The defender (chabot?) blatantly hooked his left ankle and I thought that was why he wiped out… seems I missed the more obvious high stick.

The refs missed both.

What did you see in the full overtime sequence?
Huska: "I saw a chance for 2 calls to be made and they weren't, and then the guy that should have been sitting in the box for 4 minutes end up scoring the goal... so that's what I saw."

It just gets annoying after every loss...especially when the Flames are the better team and get a point. People need to stop talking about a bottom 5 pick its not happening.

A little more likely but still not going to be easy.

Bottom 10 right now would be 79 point pace (.484) based on where Detroit is, and it's pretty much in line with some of the past couple years.

So that means with 37 points in their first 33 games so far, they'd only be able to get 42 points in the remaining 49 games, or about a .429 point percentage the rest of the way.

So bottom 10 is much more obtainable (.429) than bottom 5 (0.336) but with how they are playing ending at either of those might be unlikely.

Another good post. I’ll add that the flames are riding a 0.45 point percentage their last 10 games (3-4-3). You could argue their record is fairly even across those games. Won a few they deserved to lose and lost a few they deserved to win.

You never know when a winning streak or a losing streak will hit or if it will hit at all. Their record to date is surprisingly good with how few goals they score. If their shooting percentage starts going up, they may actually win more games.

When I watch how this team plays and compare to the bottom teams like Montreal, San Jose or Buffalo… they look nothing alike. The flames play such a tight defensive game where neither team generates much. It’s a grind every time you play the flames. Completely different with the bottom five teams in the league. Watch any Canadiens game and players on both sides have so much time and space. Big curling turns in the offensive zone with little back pressure from opposing team forwards. The ice looks huge in those games because there is so much space out there.

I think it would take some bad luck (or good luck depending on how you look at it) for the flames to crater into the bottom 3rd of the league. Not impossible of course.

I noticed the missed trip at first but had to rewind once he was pointing to his face to see what else happened there. Refs were awful tonight.

Every time a coach says anything the league fines them. It might be worth it if teams support the coaches and cover the fines while encouraging them to speak out.
Agreed, it’s not just us, but it’s disproportionately us. It’s a disgrace.

Pelletier is looking more and more like a player. He creates, uses his speed, defends - hopefully he just continues to improve. He has been very noticeable to me, though I would say he needs to show a bit more consistency. Really happy with his game right now.

Coronato has taken a huge step forward this year. He is really finding his stride this season.

I know it won’t happen but I would love to see a line of Pelletier-Zary-Coronato. Love how all 3 of those kids are playing right now.

But with the Backlund line finally producing some offense, I doubt Huska will want to pull Coronato off that line.

officials tell Huska they didn't see the sucker punch on Pospisil- how did the near linseman and the blueline ref miss it? yet all 4 huddled for a few minutes and concluded they saw nothing

I’d like to see the league take a look at the sucker punch

If the game moves too fast for the refs, they can at least try to get some things right

Department of player safety has reviewed less egregious offenses

It’s also a huge problem that Martin Pospisil is one of the players most relied on for toughness.

They should be teaching him to improve his positioning and stick check guys using his speed without absorbing so much contact.

He doesn’t wear that dark visor for the Gram, he’s had so many concussions he’s developed a sensitivity to light.

That guy shouldn’t be leading the charge, bless him.

If he doesn’t play that way, he’s out of the league in a year or two. See Ferland, Michael.

Even his career was extended by getting hot for a half season as trigger man for JG and SM.

Flames have 37 points with 49 games remaining. Meaning they could only get 33 points in their remaining 49 games or a 0.336 points percentage.

Dont think that's happening, this team just isn't that bad
Yep, we're destined for a mushy middle finish. if we get that this year and next we could basically kiss a successful rebuild goodbye. But hey, it's important to be competitive all the time, right?

Man, on a side note, how good has Huberdeau been lately? I true first line winger, dangerous every game. I don't know his stats recently but he seem like he's putting up a decent amount of points and more importantly he's in on tons of plays.
