I am pumped not to have an MLS opponent!

All the more reason to play in Edmonton

@ Shermanator

Is the supporter group going to look into organizing a group booking? I'm not FS but I'd be super interested if the price was reasonable and my wife let me lol.

Will not be heading to CDMX, but if anyone is thinking about it they should.

Mexico City is a top 10 city to visit

Currently going to PV on the 13th of February. If the rumoured dates work out, maybe I change my flight to Mexico City, then fly Mexico City to PV after the game...

Do not, under any circumstances, take cabs. Take Ubers only. The cab grift is notorious.

No. But typically with games in Mexico there will be a dedicated section for away supporters that is blocked off from home supporters with barriers and police. Shouldn't be a problem to get Cavs supporters in one spot. I'll share any details if I hear them.

Chelsea is playing Astana in Kazakhstan in Conference League today and the local temperature is -11C. We could play in Calgary if the facilities were up to snuff. Maybe someone at Spruce Meadows has a contact with a local natural gas company to install some underturf heating at ATCO Field.

Pipe dreams.

Bring him in!

A little surprised at that but the Whitecaps are definitely in win now mode and he's probably a little older than some of the other players they think they'll want around when they are turning over the roster

Part of the reason I assume we're heading back to Victoria is that playing in Edmonton would be admitting that they could do it here if they invested more. That said, I don't think playing in Edmonton is a great idea personally. The big cavernous stadiums aren't great at the best of times, and if the weather is particularly cold, that crowd could be really small. This is the issue with McMahon in 2026 when they redo the turf, IMO.

Here is the draw for the Canadian Championship. Edmonton Scottish in the first round. No MLS side until the semis. Went about as well as it could have.

Unreal draw for Cavs. TFC and Montreal facing off in the preliminary round is lovely. A CPL side could make some noise this year

I love that bottom section. TFC, Impact, Forge and HFX fighting for one semi-final spot. Cavalry could make it to the final before running into an MLS team.

So the Whitecaps owners are putting the club up for sale. San Diego FC's expansion club cost $500 million USD so you'd think the ask would be in that range. Is anyone or any group in Vancouver willing to put up that kind of money to keep the club in that market with no dedicated stadium? The Whitecaps are a big fish in Canada but a small fish in MLS.

Not that I think it will or should happen, but understandably there is a lot of concern from Whitecaps supporters about this meaning relocation.

Which is actually fine, because last year it was cheaper to build your own trip anyway.

It would be nice if our airline shirt sponsor, for example, could put together a little discount. I'd even suggest that if someone from Calgary is hardcore enough to get a flight, transportation, and probably a hotel stay, they should get their ticket to the match for free.

It would be nice to have some Cavs fans in the stands, and little incentives like that would be a nice gesture.

Looking forward to 2026 at McMahon. It is a terrible venue for soccer, but if that's our option to watch a bunch of Mexicans freezing their little black gloves off, then so be it!

They did for regular season games last year, but it seems like a huge miss to not do this for these ones.
