I renounce this comment and beg forgiveness of the Snake.

Now you must do 100 days of penance and possibly sacrifice a small animal (not a snake)

Five games have been played since the last update, with the Flames going 2-3-0 in those games. After spending the first 9 games above the black line, the red snake dropped below it after game 10. It rose above it after the win in game 11, but has been below it the last two games. A win in the next game would bring it back above the black line.
The red snake is currently 0.220 points below the black line and 1 point below the purple snake. It is on pace for 94.6 points. A record of 40-28-1 (58.6% / 96.2 point pace) would have it end at 96 points.

After four games of being below the black line, the red snake has slithered its way back above it by 0.268 points. Any result tonight, except a regulation loss, will keep it there. The red snake is 1 point below the purple snake.
The red snake is on pace for 97 points. A record of 38-28-1 (57.5% / 94.2 point pace) would have it end at 96 points.

looking at the schedule, there's a good opportunity to win 4 in a row before the Rangers game.

After spending two miserable games, and six out of the last seven, below the black line, ol' snakey is above the red line after winning the last two games. It sits 0.756 points above the black line and 1 point below the purple snake. A record of 36-26-1 (57.9% / 95.0 point pace) would have it end at 96 points. The red snake is current on pace for 99 points.

With last night's win, the Flames improved their record to 11-6-3. The red snake moved to 1.585 points above the black line, its best performance since the end of game #8. It remains 1 point below the purple snake. A record of 35-26-1 (57.3% / 94 point pace) would have it end at 96 points. The red snake is current on pace for 102 points.
As the season is now at 20 games played, the graphs will expand to 41 games on the next updated.

A perfect 4-0-0 record on the home stand improves the Flames' record to 12-6-3 and moves the red snake to 2.415 points above the black line. The red snake is now 1 point above the purple snake, after being below it the previous 9 games. A record of 34-26-1 (56.6% / 93 point pace) would have it end at 96 points. The red snake is currently on pace for 105 points.
One of the reasons I like using the 2014-15 season as the purple snake is the volatility of it. It had a four game win streak twice and had a seven game losing (pointless) streak. Its high was 4.390 points above the black line after game 29 while its low was 4.171 points below the black line after game 42. It ended up at 97 points, one point above the target.

One OTL in the last two games has dropped the red snake to 1.073 points above the black line and tied it with the purple snake. A record of 34-25-0 (57.6% / 94.5 point pace) would have it end at 96 points. The red snake is currently on pace for 100 points.

That was a much longer snake delay than I had intended. Apologies to all you snake charmers out there.
At the halfway mark of the season the Flames are 20-14-7. This puts the red snake at 47 points, 1 point below the black line, and 2 points above the purple snake. Although the Flames have won the last two games, they would need to win the next two to get above the black line in the quickest amount of time. The red snake has only been above the black line once in the last 18 games, with that being after game #35, which was 6 games ago.
A record of 24-16-1 (59.8% / 96.8 point pace) would have it end at 96 points. The red snake is currently on pace for 94 points.

That's a fascinating comparison with the 2015 team. That team was streaky as hell in both directions, while this year's team has hugged the line a lot closer since the hot start. Never quite as far off the line as 2015, much more consistent.
