I like how Honzek credits Pospisil for helping him take such big strides this year, helping him train like a pro all summer with the mindset of "you're making this team". That's a great teammate and a valuable guy to have on the team, considering how hard Pospisil himself has worked to make it to the NHL.

I'm pretty happy with this for the most part based on what I saw in preseason. Super happy to see Coronato and Honzek make the lineup, didn't think there was a way we'd see them both in there, even with an injury to Sharky.
Potential for the Flames to have four consecutive first-rounders on their roster this year in Pelletier, Zary, Coronato, and Honzek — and it's worth repeating that these are the picks from the end of their contention window. The actual fruits of the rebuild aren't here yet.
Very encouraging stuff. And great to see Klapka in there as well.

Agreed. Even this year's draft, generally recognized as an excellent one, was only dipping their toes in the rebuild waters.

Happy to be proven wrong. But if I’m on the outside looking at this team, I label it a lottery team. Its bad throughout, there are no strengths.
Without elite talent, this team is going to have to outwork their opponent. I’m guessing that a few teams might see the Flames as an easy win but be surprised early on. I do agree though, the Flames will most likely finish near the bottom.
So Flames have 4 Calder eligible players on the opening night roster? Pretty cool.
You know that the writers will never vote for a Flames rookie to win the Calder. It will be Celebrini winning unless he is injured for half a season...

Celebrini isn't near the propesct that a Bedard, Matthews or Mackinnon was (last 1st overalls to win Calder). It's usually a player a couple years removed from their draft year.

If zary solidifies 2nd line role. Kadri repeats. Huberdeau to 75 and we get avg goltending + someone stepping up into top 4 we might be better than we think. It's not far.
They should be hard working relatively low talent team. Missing an entire first line and probably top 2 D compared to the top teams.
Should be a fun season seeing everyone grow. How many players play for the flames this season? It might be a relatively large number with call ups and assessing the players.
