Definitely bold predictions, I’m not sure if any of them are realistic, but oh to dream.

So when you're "Flames should sacrifice this season" thread fails, you come up with a new angle of "bold draft predictions" just to push a slightly modified version of the same Lindholm for Seth Jarvis trade from the last thread. I do have to admire the creativity in that, kudos.

Bold 1: The Flames draft four times in the first round.
Bold 2: Jacob Markstrom is dealt.
Bold 3: Dillon Dube is on stage for the draft selections as the new Captain of the Calgary Flames (and signs a whopper of an 8-year extension on July 1st).

And it's not that crazy of an idea. If you watched these past playoffs, Tkachuk was pushing his way into everything Captain related. He was the press guy, he was the one with hands on the Eastern Conference trophy first.
Panthers become Team Tkachuk. Florida inks Lindholm and Hanifin to 8 year deals, Marky goes "home" with his cousin. Barkov comes to join Huby, and the Flames then have to figure out what to do with Bob.

1. Flames draft thrice in the 1st round
- Hanifin traded to Detroit for 17th overall and Filip Zadina
- Lindholm & Vladar traded to Buffalo for Krebs & 13th overall
2. Flames draft Pellikka, Yager, Perreault
3. Flames re-sign Backlund for 3 years at $3M and make him captain, he's there at the draft table next week.

To me that means they are going to draft Carlsson or Fantilli (if he somehow dropped).
They've been looking for their #1 centre for years, this is their chance. I think the chances of them trading the pick is <5%
|
I wish it meant that they would trade their 1st pick to Calgary for Lindholm.

Flames would be 13 million over the cap then with the need to sign 3 forwards and 2 dmen.
They would have to trade at least three of Backlund, Rasmus, Weegar or Toffoli to make that work, probably all 4 of those guys.

Kadri is the center that is traded either to Colorado (Girard) or Islanders (Horvat)
Flames pick 3x in the first round by trading Hanifin for a 1st and 2nd. They deal the 2nd and Vladar to the Leafs for the 28th pick.

Calgary trades Hanifan and Lindholm for the 13th and 20th and get 2 2nd rounders as well.
They then make a huge blockbuster with Chicago landing the first overall for the 16, 13, 20 and Matthew coronoto
Cue the meltdown

Zac Benson slides down a few spots on draft day as teams favour D and size. Flames manage to use the assets from Hannifin trade to jump in front of Vancouver (rumoured to be interested) and draft him.

If that trade went through, the Flames would be $4.639 over the cap with the need to sign:
1 defenceman
1 forward
So yeah, they'd have to figure out what to do with Bob.
Easy peezy.

Calgary will make at least two selections in the 1st round.
Hanifin will be traded.
Lindholm will be extended for $9Mx8.
