And it's not that crazy of an idea. If you watched these past playoffs, Tkachuk was pushing his way into everything Captain related. He was the press guy, he was the one with hands on the Eastern Conference trophy first.

They would have to trade at least three of Backlund, Rasmus, Weegar or Toffoli to make that work, probably all 4 of those guys.

Flames pick 3x in the first round by trading Hanifin for a 1st and 2nd. They deal the 2nd and Vladar to the Leafs for the 28th pick.

If that trade went through, the Flames would be $4.639 over the cap with the need to sign:

1 defenceman
1 forward

So yeah, they'd have to figure out what to do with Bob.
