I sometimes refer to my wife as my ex-girlfriend or my first wife. Both are factual so she cant get mad.

When I have to listen to someone talk and I don't want to, rather than make eye contact I just focus on the bridge of their nose. It really does make people very uncomfortable, but they can't quite figure out why.
