So yeah you can bump Lucic down to the 4th and move things around, but suddenly you are making a bunch of changes with a line-up that's kinda rolling right now.

But yeah if you want to get him in, Ruzicka right now probably makes the most sense.

Honestly, no idea. I guess Sutter is evaluating Ruzicka pretty tightly, if he has another lazy game I could see him out, Looch on the 4th and and Pelts with Huby and Kadri. Or Pelts with Lewis and Duehr, could work since they know each other well and Lewis would be the veteran presence. But yeah, without healthy scratches or injuries, not much room there

Wasn't that Chucky's turning point of that season? After that goal he barely did anything for the rest of the season.

After the OT goal in Nashville Tkachuk had 48 points in 54 games to end the season.

By who? Once the Flames started rolling, I didn't see anyone doubting their legitimacy - they were considered cup contenders by many.

As for Seattle, they are playing really well, and are a fast team. But their shooting percentage is crazy, and I don't think they have another gear. Can they keep it going? Sure. But if they cool off, I could also see a pretty significant tail-off.

Also, look at the teams that are their threat: COL, CGY and EDM - all 3 could have really strong second halves.

they have built a big cushion and don't appear to be slowing so it likely will grow some more before any falling back to earth happens

even if they crater, they have enough of a buffer that at worst they fall into the WC

<5% chance they fall out entirely imo

Ruzicka has singlehandedly turned that 4th line around over the past month. I am not sure what everybody expects from this kid. All he has done is succeed in his ever changing role this year.

I think the perfect scenario involves the Flames finishing 2nd in the Pacific along with the Kraken finishing 3rd. Kings can pound sand, and the Flames stay out of the wildcard.

On topic, Flames win tonight. They play well in Nashville. These are usually fun games too.

if Colorado lose a couple 4 pointers to Calgary and Edmonton they could be in dire straits for playoffs. when you get to 7, 8, 9 points back into the second half, that's hard to overcome

flip side is if they have a good week against direct competition for those spots they'll be back in it

People have been saying that since the start of the year. Hasn't happened yet.

They're a lock for the playoffs.

How healthy/unhealthy are they now? I know they had injury issues earlier.

Yeah, they were ranked pretty much 4th in for the cup and only that because they'd have to go thru the Avs. If they got thru the Avs I think a lot of experts predicted a cup.

Colorado is not a bubble team, clawing their way into the playoffs. They are reining champs, shaking off a cup hangover and fighting through a lot of injuries. They are more than capable of playing .700 or .750 hockey the rest of the way.

Reasonable ppl may disagree on this point. My opinion is that Lucic has looked fine, and “fine” can be taken out of the lineup for someone like Pelletier. Another option for me would be Lewis, in which case I’d move Lucic to line 4.
