Cheer a tribute video, but no response at all unless he scores a goal...then I would boo him so loud my throat would be sore.

Not boo. And yea he warrants a tribute. He was a franchise player and did a lot of great things for this team and city.

I read them and don't see anything other than answers to he question and they are mostly booing. Is it "childish" because you don't like the answers?

I would cheer for him during a tribute. I wouldn't cheer him on to beat the Flames. Wouldn't boo him either.

Don't mind others booing for the fun of it at the game. It's an entertainment product where tribalism is a big part of the experience people are there to enjoy.

Outside of his play against the Flames, I'm glad to have a reason to still follow such an entertaining player.

For his first game back, same treatment as Tkachuk:

Nice ovation after the video tribute; booing every time he touches the puck. Only much louder I suspect. Should be a fun night.

I don't expect we'll get any "Fox you suck"-type chants.

Whether the team is winning or not, it’s tough not to miss the excitement he brought to Flames games. One of the best we’ve had the pleasure of watching.

I’m sure he’ll be booed. That’s okay. It’s sports. It’s not serious.

Booo him out of the city.

Just like he gave us the finger on his way out. No amount of awkwardness makes a person say the things he said.

Like he said he wasn't tied to the city like other players. Come in Mid September leave in April that's all he knew.

He isn't in the tier of a Iggy Gio or Monny. Those guys gave it everything on the ice and off the ice.

Hopefully he makes the game, according to him and his family customs was such a burden for them his agent cited it as a reason in his letter.

100% Booooooo!

He was my favourite player, and I loved what he brought to the franchise, but honestly that all went out the window when HE chose not to stay. Not only did he not stay, but he chose to let it drag on until the final hour. Sure.. that was his right, but you would think he would have the slightest interest in the clubs best interest after all the years he spent in this city. For me, I would be a lot less disappointed if he had just been straight up from the get go, and informed the club his intentions much earlier on in the process.

I don’t buy that he was undecided right up until the final hour. You start to think about a decision of that magnitude long in advance. It’s not like he suddenly found out he needed to make a decision just days before. He knew what he was going to do, probably months and months in advance.

For what it's worth, on Friday Curtis Dickson returned to the Dome after signing with San Diego in the off-season. I would argue he is comparable to Johnny in terms impact to the franchise (though he also led the team to a championship). There was a tribute video in the first quarter with a ovation from the crowd (some of them standing). Apart from that nothing else really in terms of boos or cheers. He had a monster game though.

He also didn't have any of the tension with Johnny's departure. He is a class act all the way and handled signing elsewhere in that manner.

But I suspect we will see a tribute video early in the game, and a smattering of boos the rest of the time.

would cheer the tribute because he was a good Flame, & boo during the game because he left the Flames at the altar

same as Tkachuk, even though Johnny arguably deserves worse reception than Tkachuk

we will show that we are classier than he was by showing our gratitude when he is mentioned, which he refused to do for the fans that rallied behind him for years here

I think that's the worst part of how he handled it. no thank you fans/thank you team in a direct, no-nonsense statement that 99.5% of other players are able to do when moving on from a team they've been with for years

his self defense article doesn't count, sorry Johnny

Isn't there something inherently childish about being a sports fan? We're grown (mostly middle aged) adults cheering on a bunch of 20-35 year olds skate around and try and push a hockey puck past other 20-35 year olds. We all act like the outcome of these games is important, but it really isn't. Not at all.

I guess there are degrees of childishness, but what is being a sports fan if you can't have a little bit, of often childish, fun.

Was just about to comment how refreshing it was for people to voice their personal opinions without a boatload of judgement thrown their way.

Guess we're no longer perfect in that regard!
