When my wife and I were debating a vacation in New York, THIS is the game we were going to go to.

Alas, she didn't feel comfortable leaving our 3 month old at home for a week. (I reassured her that the 5 year old would take care of him, but she wouldn't go for it).

Going to watch this one with a heavy heart.

Is that the 5 year old that said Flames is the best team in all the land? Please, I need to hear him say it again so I can feel better.

When Sutter takes shots at his top players that's one thing. When he took a swipe at Gaudreau or Iginla. That's the sacred cow so it resonates more. When he takes shots at these AHL guys or Rooney he just seems like a grumpy old man. Yeah we know Mackey isn't NHL calibre, Gilbert isn't good De Simone probably isn't good. thats why they were/are in the AHL in their mid 20s. They know, the fans know, the rest of the D know why they are playing 23-27 min a night. why take shots at them every time you get in front of a mic

They are going to win tonight! 7-1 Flames and Huberdeau with 4 points, Lindholm and Toffoli with 2 goals each.

Pretty quickly here unless he is dead or dying we're going to need to play Tanev.

Sutter has an incredible ability sometimes to avoid responsibility for his failures as a GM and a Coach. Someone who preaches it for his players but when it's turned on him, makes it out to seem that it isn't HIS problem.

Some of his answers to media questions last year about the Oiler's domination of the Flames in the playoffs, really urked me. An attitude of "They have the best player in the world, who's going to stop them, you guy?"

It felt like as if his job isn't to figure it out and he was questioning why fans and media were questioning him, as if there was nothing he could do! Ironically Colorado figured it incredibly quickly!

Sutter is a great coach and motivator but his "I am the smartest guy in the room" syndrome can be his downfall

People have said that for more than 20 years of him coaching.

He's survived all sorts of changes to the game while he made his way to winning 2 Stanley Cups.

His media facing demeanor has long been adversarial but he gets the job done.

This won't be his downfall.

Cuz he needs to wake someone up and for someone to step up. If you're given that opportunity, make the best of it. During the pre-season, pretty much none of the AHL guys stepped up. This is why there are only veterans on the team. Now, 2 spots are open. Someone better show up. It's a huge opportunity! Another poster mentioned Mike Vernon. I remembered him coming in and basically took the bull by the horns and ran with it.

Meh a giveaway in your first NHL game that should not have resulted in a goal, every player has those types of giveaways, just unlucky for DeSimone that it resulted in a goal. Does not erase a good game from that pair.

They're not kids anymore (apples still ripening on the tree), it's time to ripen and be (act like) NHLers

In the last 8 games, the penalty calls have been:

Against CGY: 33
Against opp: 20

That is 65% more penalties called on the Flames. Then add that 2 of the calls against them were in OT - directly resulting in the loss of a point, each time.

Do the Flames get treated a little more fairly tonight?

Also crazy - everyone agrees, and the league basically admits, that they employ game management to keep games close and competitive.

Despite that, the Flames got fewer PPs than the opposition in every one of their losses this year, except the SEA game, where they were even.

The very same. See he could have held down the fort while we partied it up in New York!

I'd just have him watch the documentary "Home Alone" to prepare.
