Rocky Wirtz gets really upset with reporters when asked about Kyle Beach and the team moving forward. Wow. Really bad look for the organization.

By your standards, what would not constitute ‘sweeping this under the rug’? Public hangings?
You know, maybe we should bring back public hangings. Not for everyone of course, but for the Jerry Sandusky/Larry Nasser/Jeffrey Epstein level predators?

I think I'd be for it.

Cripes, the Hawks got into all of this mess because everyone shut up about what they saw and knew, now the owner is telling people to shut up, it's none of your business.

They've learned absolutely zero. Nothing.

What an embarrassment.

Gross. Zero accountability, just nothing to see here. What a #### organization. I can't tell whether the people on the panel with him were just uncomfortable or shocked & appalled by his response. Hopefully the latter. Big changes have to happen there.

Wish there was precedent to fine this loser. May the Black Hawks never win again

I have to say, if the Flames were ever involved in a situation like this, and this is how the organization responded, I don't think I'd be a fan anymore.

This is disgusting.

Me thinks Mr. Wirtz will be getting a call from Mr. Bettman on behalf of the other 31 organizations that make up the NHL.

It will not be a pleasant conversation either.

I imagine a PR crisis team somewhere in New York is already assembling to figure this one out.

Stunning stuff.

Never have I seen …
If this goes unanswered by the league it would only show the complete disconnect that the NHL has to important social problems verses profit and greed.

Please be better NHL. ( Insert Anikin you’re breaking my heart gif)

On the money. What complete lack of leadership. The only solace I take in this response is that Beach must have been paid a pretty dime to get such a hostile answer from the owner.

There was something beautiful about that exchange, and that was the reporters tempers appropriately going up as well. Wirtz was wrong in replying to a simple question about what they're doing moving forward. He attributed it to looking for reporters seeking retribution and lost his marbles. But I loved how the reporters stuck to their guns and rose their voice to his level anyway. That's what reporters should do and we don't see that anymore. If this was in Toronto or any other Canadian city they'd have put their tail between their legs and realized this would hurt their ability to get a scoop in the future. These guys knew that and still did it. It should be applauded. Haven't seen that in ages in the sports world.

oh boy Wirtz looks like an ass.

the other guy to the right tried to dial things back, but Wirtz lost it and shut him down.

This is disgusting.

I'm not a fan of the Blackhawks and the way this has been handled by both the Hawks and the league has made me enjoy this league in general a lot less.
