Brouwer had 6 points his first 8 games as a Flame. That's a couple weeks. I recall some discussion how he was panning out pretty good to start that season. Went downhill after, never to be that good again. He definitely was decent to start his tenure as a Flame.

Either way, Gudbranson has been good for 3 games here, while sucking everywhere he has gone pretty much his entire career. A bit too early to proclaim him as a success here. If he goes downhill at some point, this hot start of his will be all but forgotten.

Brouwer masked a LOT of his 5v5 deficiencies on the powerplay. And even there we didn't his him as the bumper which was his bread n butter.

This isn't true. I didn't watch him in Vancouver and I know people said he sucked there but he didn't suck in Pittsburgh or Anaheim, he was solid albeit nothing special. Typical bottom pairing but with intangibles. In Florida he was in the final year ask to play top pairing in the playoffs and was outmatched, no surprise there. He's been through a lot of injuries in his career and I feel that has always played a big part in bringing his game down.
