I’d trade Johnny if he wants 8 years at $8.5 mil but it’s definitely going to be a interesting year for Johnny if he can stick with Tkachuk and Lindholm for a large portion of his ice time. If he does he will get 80 points no question
if he can get "80 points no question", why would you be against that contract?

More important than the guy on the other wing, the majority of Johnny’s ice time last year without a puck possessing, play driving centre. It worked for a time, but those days are just over now.

Simon and Leivo are so great they are out of the league now

26% of his time with Tkachuck and Mangipane the only two realistic top six wingers...so yes the majority with crap

exactly

And if you won't pay a PPG player 8.5M+ you will never have one so fold the franchise

Some ES time is is 4 on 4 and in OT. So with just a centre.

Yeah I saw the percentages but dino claimed he played most of season with Ritchie which isn't true at all. Percentage wise it was about 8 games.

Yes but that's not what you said. Didn't say he was playing with great players all year. You said he was playing most of the season with Ritchie.

Leivo and Simon are even worse then Ritchie so it proves my point even more

You said I exaggerated...he played more than half the time with a #### winger on his opposite side

Leivo and Simon had him begging for Ritchie

Facts are Gaudreau really hasn't had the best line mates and is almost PPG for his career, but lEtS oFFer hIm 6m tOPs

Leivo is on waivers today. I don’t think Simon has been cut by the Pens.

I assumed they were gone...we will see if they play
point stands, they are borderline NHLers

Leivo is probably done unless someone claims him which I doubt

Yes, but there’s the rub. MZ is a puck possessing play driving centre so he commands that salary. Johnny isn’t.

Not to mention the fact that Johnny spent most of the season with an injured Monahan.

I think it’s a lot of money for that particular player.

Maybe 1M a year too much.

Last time I checked, Johnny has been driving most of the Flames offense, no?

Yes, but that’s a low bar.

The complaint was that he had a bad season because he didn’t have a good centre. That’s why good centres get paid more than good wingers.

He doesn't even play with Panarin (aside from the PP). Strome plays with Panarin. Zibanejad carries his own line.

Looks like it's all signing bonuses (1M base) with a full NMC the whole way.
When will these teams ever learn?

True. MZ usually centred Kreider and Lafreniere.

Gaudreau having to play with a scrub winger is a product of the current salary structure and the inability of the Flames management not being able to acquire or develop young talent that can excel on entry level deals.

Maybe stating the obvious, but it seems like some people blame the coaches for that. It’s a shame that Gaudreau couldn’t make those players better though.

His center was an injured Monahan and except for taking draws Johnny plays more like a center anyway, he drives every line he's on and has since he was 12.

Does Pat Kane need a great center to earn his $10.5m?
