So far, the rumoured off-season sounds terrifying

Aren't we looking for right-wing forwards? Did either of them play RW on their current teams?
This, and I hope we didn't pass on Toffoli only to end up overpaying for Hyman a year later to address the RW issue.

Yup! At this point it may just be best to be black out drunk for the next 8 or 9 days

A 4th for his rights with a ~4m contract is about as high as I would go. We do however desperately need a top 6 RW with jam, and there doesn't look to be many other options available.
Does he play on the right side? Hockeydb has him listed as a left winger. If he can be a good RW, that makes the proposed deal a lot more palatable. If he is a LW and Treliving is looking at him, it probably means that Tkachuk or Gaudreau are going in another deal, so depending on what the return was, it could end up being a good thing. I find that it is better not to look at offseason wheeling and dealing moves in isolation, but rather wait and see how things add up when the season starts.

Yeah, I would rather drive the Brinks truck up to Landeskog. It's better to overpay on an elite player than a good player. And Hyman is good for sure, it's just that the term would be too long for that AAV.

If the Avs do let Landeskog go, I can see him landing in either Nashville or Carolina. I have no inside info obviously, just hunch based on teams that have both cap and a team that he would probably fit into perfectly.

I like the player, but 7-8 years has the potential to be very bad in the last 3-4 years...

Wow, so negative around here... So the flames aren't just a Hyman away from finally being an actual contender?

Yeah, huge pass on Hyman. I like the player but his contract is going to be ugly and it’s going to be ugly from day one. Stay away.

NHL Rumour Roundup: Landeskog 'disappointed' he hasn't re-signed with Avalanche yet

"The rumblings have been really interesting," Seravalli said. "Talking to another manager yesterday, they were saying that they think Zach Hyman is gonna be in the seven-year, $6-million-per neighbourhood. So that's significant coin."

Dude has a decent 2nd line stat line, while playing with some of the most prolific offensive forwards in the league (think most of this year's time for Hyman was with marner/mathews).

Hyman looked great with those players, ESPECIALLY when it always seemed to be followed by you thinking "guy is only making ~$2M bucks". I highly doubt he ever lives upto the expectations set upon him by the media, fans, etc, when he's eating > $5M of a team's cap hit.

How is Hyman in the same ball park as Hall and Landeskog? Just absolutely bonkers.

I wouldn't worry too much about the Flames signing him. As long as he has plenty of options he won't likely pick this team to sign with.

I'd worry more about the fact that BT is TRYING to sign him if that's true. Means he's not learning from past mistakes.

Don't we already have the next Zach Hymen in the prospect from the Bennett deal?

Stay clear of this signing especially at that price and term.

I'm not surprised the Flames are interested as they always seem to be in the mix for top 6 forwards. I'm no Treliving fan but I have faith he's not going to pay the rumored asking price. I feel the Oilers and Canucks will fight this out.
