Just look at their goalie tandem, I'd be mad too. If that's not obvious tanking then I don't know what is

From Crawford and Lehner, to Subban and Delia?
That is quite the change in one season.

Iginla basically said the same thing...he didn't want to be around for a rebuild...and then the Flames won a playoff round 2 years later (something he did one year of his entire Flames career)

Frankly I think he's earned the right to complain. He's given his heart and soul to the Hawks and it seems he'd like to play the rest of his career there.

Isn't this the cost of success? They won't three Cups and got paid. With their huge salaries it's been much harder to put a team around them, especially as the cores skills decline.
I get they may not want a rebuild but this is the end cycle for their incredible dynasty. No use being upset about it.

Yup... He also also got to go to the Eastern Conference finals that season. Too bad we got garbage for him!

Pretty much this. Toews has 2 options, honour contract he signed and stay for rebuild or ask for trade. They were not going to go his whole career without a rebuild in there somewhere.

Nobody forced Kane and Toews to sign for $10.5M. They could have taken team friendly deals (and still been rich af) if they wanted to continue playing for a competitive team. But they took the payday, and now Chicago can't pay for any other good players, and they have to rebuild. Sucks for them, but they should have seen this coming.

Lots of players just can’t see past their immediate circumstances. Tells me that Toews isn’t the leader I thought he was - undermining the team publicly isn’t a good thing.

June 23, 2017: Artemi Panarin was traded to Columbus by Chicago with Tyler Motte and Chicago's 6th round pick in 2017 NHL Draft for Brandon Saad, Anton Forsberg and Columbus' 5th round pick in 2018 NHL Draft.

I would gladly pay a guy 10.5 million for 3 Stanley cups, a Conn Smythe, ,Selke and 2 gold medals.

What did last season show Toews? That they were an up and coming team? Everyone and their monkey knew that Chicago is either IN a rebuild, or that they SHOULD be rebuilding. Now he is upset about not being consulted? All kinds of funny with that situation.

$33.4 million. Toews and Kane make $10.5M each, Keith makes about $5.5M, and Seabrook makes $6.875M. Seabrook's contract in particular is a huge albatross, it lasts another four years with a full NMC. Best they could hope for is he simply retires.

Reading this thread I only have one thought...
Tkachuk- Monahan - Kane in your top 6 is shades of Hossa - Toews - Kane in your top 6.
I would throw the whole 9 yards plus the kitchen sink at Chicago for him.

Let’s see if I understand this. Toews is unhappy so the Hawks will trade Kane to us?
