I like Josh Anderson. Big, physical, skilled...

But this contract is ludicrous.

At his best he’s a 20 goal, 40 point guy, he’s coming off a season of 4 points in 26 game prior to his injury and he’s had injury issues in his career.

To give him 7 years at any dollar value is ridiculous, let alone overpaying on AAV too.

David Clarkson 2.0 is almost too perfect

Only way this makes sense if they’re now trading him to a team that needs a bad contract to get to the cap floor.

I feel like Mr. Treliving would have done a MUCH better job on that contract if we had gotten him.

Treliving needs to get on the phone with Bergevin immediately and get what he can while Bergevin is clearly high out of his mind

Almost like when Mr Burns gives homer a cheque for bowling because he thinks he’s the Pillsbury dough boy.

If he has the same season as 19-20 he will average $1,000,000 per point scored. Seems like good value.

I would have guessed he would have recieved a 1-2 year show-me contract around maybe 3-3.5/year.
I guess the Habs are expecting him to really break out so they can get good value on a player over-performing.
I just don't see that happening though.
As soon as Domi got $5.3M from the Jackets, that's immediately the comparable for Anderson

If this went to arbitration Anderson and his agent would just have to say Domi got $5.3M as an RFA, Montreal values Anderson more than Domi since they added a 3rd in the trade, therefore Anderson is more valuable than Domi

Bergevins hands were tied the second Domi signed

Even if he had more than one good(just "good") year, cut the price in half and cut the term to almost a quarter to see if he even has another good year. On top of that he's a RFA.

Did Chia steal Bergevin's identity?

Based on this I expect Montreal to sign Janko at 3 x $3M tomorrow...

Also...clearly I am having separation anxiety that after 7 years of consistancy...our threads may no longer be derailed by Jankowski...

This isn't too bad if his best ever year is his average year

Somehow he was able to negotiate a no movement clause as well? Which other team in the league would've offered 7 years at that price? Crazy. Small chance at this working out for Montreal with that contract. Sometimes you have to know your market - the second he doesn't live up to that contract Habs fans will call for Bergevin to be ousted.

Don't worry, Colbourne still comes up in talks - as a matter of fact, just in this same thread too. Heck, every now and then you will see "Have the Flames signed Boyd yet?".

Janowski will live on in this forums long after his career is over - and I am saying this thinking he is going to carve out a somewhat decent career yet. Sleep comfortably tonight my friend.

The term is the best part.

They are going to give him big minutes and PP time.

If he pans out, it will be a steal over time.

The time to give term is before usage changes, as it costs way more afterwards.

Anderson is just a shorter, more goal-scorey Colborne anyways.

Do people think Anderson is going to develop, after the age of 26, into something he has never been?

This is a terrible contract, I wonder how good he will be in his early 30's in the final 3 years of the contract.

He has a point... it ruins it for the rest of the teams who dont have dog crap GM's. Just like how Chiarelli and then Dubas just made RFA deals go up 40% with less term over 2 offseasons.

Obviously the Habs see something more in Anderson than most people. He is still young enough to make this contract look ok, but not holding my breath.
