This already seems like a terrible signing, yikes to the term and money

Usually big term is to bring down the cap hit. Bergevin must think that Anderson is a $7M player at a three year term.

What in The ####??? $5.5M for a guy coming off 1 goal last season??? If this is the way hockey is going they losing this fan. When mediocre players are pulling down $5M+ you can just shut the whole thing down for good as far as I'm concerned. This is just absolute insanity. Bergevin should be taken out behind the barn...

Why do you care what an individual player gets? The team has a cap. The players overall get the same total $$!

They give him a no trade that gets worse with time. If I were a player I would be drooling to negotiate a contract in Montreal.

This is not a gamble. This is plain stupid.
How do managers like this exist. How does a billionaire owner allow this.
This is absolutely putrid.

Bergevin is a clown. This seemed like a perfect candidate for a 2 year deal to see if he can bounce back. The guy has had one good season, and he was awful last year. This could work out, but it could also easily be the worst contract in the league. Super risky for Montreal.

This could work out really, and in time we will all call this a bargain contract.
Pigs can grow some wings, and one way we will see them flying through the sky.
Seriously, this is a terrible deal for a player who had an injury-plagued campaign of 1 goal and 3 assists in 26 games. One good season - ONE good season where he hit 47 points. I wanted Treliving to acquire him, but I thought the acquisition price was high (and I thought that Domi's value wasn't as high as some people have him at). If the cap had a substantial jump this year, it still wouldn't make sense, but in a flat cap pandemic shut-down world, it is just ugly.
I guess we will see. If he rebounds and produces all 7 years, this will be a bargain. That's just a big risk to take at this point, and Bergevin would have been better off mitigating the risk by signing him for 2-3 yr deal at 3-3.5, and then re-signing him for the difference for another 3 or 4 years. I think even at 3.5, that's pretty steep for a guy who never cracked 50 points, has only had a max of 20 goals once, and is coming off a 4 point injury plagued season.

David Clarkson part deux.
He must have beat Bergevin at arm wrestling to get this deal.

This is a laughably terrible contract. Almost like if Calgary gave Lazar a 5x$5 immediately after trading for him when he was coming off one point in 33 games. Anderson is better sure but this is the riskiest contract I've seen in years.

That is a long time. I wanted him on flames, but that is a long time for a hardnosed player that is an injury magnet.

One thing to consider is that as soon as that idiot Bergevin gave up Domi and a 3rd for this guy (LMFAO) he pretty much had to bend over, grab his ankles, and give him whatever contract he and his agent wanted. If he didn't, all Josh would have done was accept his qualifying offer and go UFA next off season. Then Bergevin would have been the dolt that gave up Domi and a 3rd for one COVID shortened partial season of Josh Anderson.

He was still an RFA, yeah?
I would have guessed he would have recieved a 1-2 year show-me contract around maybe 3-3.5/year.
I guess the Habs are expecting him to really break out so they can get good value on a player over-performing.
I just don't see that happening though.
