Surely down by 1 in the 3rd period you'd put Lindholm in with Johnny and Mony? I know those two are hot garbage these days, but if you need a goal that's gotta be a better option than Reider or Lucic.

Shrug.

The coaching excuse defies logic. As I said in the game thread we've had a jack Adams winner and a coach that lead the team to tie a record season points wise both get quit on the next season. It's been in out in out for the playoffs regardless of who's been in charge for too many years now.

Meh. 3rd rounder to a 4th is minor.

If it's an immediate coaching change no prob as at least no assets will be given up.

I don’t think the seasons already past the point of no return. Getting a real coach first is essential and then shakeup of the roster could help.

Because Boston making the playoffs will have everything to do with how much Sam Bennet cares.

This division and playoff format is going to allow one of the pacific five into the conference finals. Flames with a new coach can get there, I truly believe that. No one in the division is standing amongst the rest and some unbeatable team.

Holding onto Ward out of a sense of loyalty or whatever is going on is ridiculous. He’s had his run, it’s clear things aren’t working with him. Thanks Geoff but it’s time to move on.

Consistently cycling through crappy coaches every 2 years then saying well it's not the coach defies logic.

For whatever it's worth, there were some positives in that game. Some big missed details - poor D zone coverage on the first goal, poor backchecking on the second goal, zero net front coverage on the right side to tie up a stick by the penalty killing defenseman - that was the difference.

I know we've all seen this story before in the Gully era so those positives don't feel like much. But all teams do go through stretches of play where the details aren't there and I'd say overall they carried the play in back to back games which is a marked improvement over most of Ward's tenure. It sucks that this team can never seem to manage a balance between carrying the play and backchecking when it doesn't have a hardass coach, though. I don't think it's unique to this team or anything, but you can definitely tell this team responded better to Hartley and Peters' short leashes.

Thought Nashville played a very workmanlike game. Didn't flinch much, gave up a lot of perimeter, but very little centre and even when the Flames did get right in front of the net, Saros was ready. Not much to dislike about a team like that....except that they ain't us.

Flames OTOH, looked sloppy - again. Too many behind the back blind passes to...nothing, lost pucks, turnovers and just generally piss-poor play. No drive to the net.

To be fair, when JG is on the ice, only two other forwards are going to be fighting for the puck...he's just gonna scrape whatever he can find. Very disappointing.

Despite their position I just feel that this team is going to be out of the playoffs. Watching the freaking Greasers. Ugh.

Not at all what I was implying. Simply that Bennett has been one of our hardest working forwards since the all star break while everyone else has vanished, like they always do. The Flames will trade him to a playoff team, and he’ll do great for them while we continue to harbour our wonderful culture of players who may care, but can’t play tough hockey.

The last two times Darryl Sutter was hired as a a team's third head coach of a season, his team snuck into the playoffs on its next crack as the 8-seed and made it to the Cup Final.

So... go nuts.

It's tragically funny that we can't even drop out of this "race" because nobody else can win either.

I feel bad for the 9th and 10th place eastern teams that are seeing this circus in the west while they sit on outside.

Joke team is a joke. No huge surprise that they were outworked and outclassed.

A perfect synopsis of this team: losing by a goal heading into the third period, don’t get a shot on goal for 12 minutes. That right there tells you everything you need to know about the character and heart of this team.

I lot of outside shots and not many dangerous chances. Down going into the third and you can't manage a shot until 12 minutes in because you are being out worked and out skated. Even then the first couple shots were nowhere near dangerous.

I don't know. It just seemed like they managed to get to loose pucks and won more battles. Didn't give us any space and we didn't work to make any.

GG was a bad coach, I wont touch that. But the one before and after him was a jack Adam's winner and the other lead the team to a historic season. They're crap?

5-goal Sam Bennett with the Flames will probably turn into 10-goal-in-the-playoffs winner......sigh.
