If the refs got it right, we would have had a great chance to take over the game with a PP goal early in the third. Really unfortunate that the refs got this penalty wrong.

On the bright side they did get the suspension right.

I don't know how you see a teammate plastered from behind and do nothing but mill about looking for a referee. Especially when two other players on your team, and the goalie, enter the fray. It's baffling.

Someone needs to sit down with Monahan, tell him how big and strong he is, and how it's time to start using it. Seeing him just stand there is infuriating.

What's even more baffling is he grew up playing lacrosse. You'd think hitting, rough play and scrums would be second nature.

In all honesty Monahan is probably terrified about getting into a scrum and getting hurt. Especially his wrist.

Well, jerseys should be situationally accurate or else they'd be a faux-pas. So, if you removed it you'd have a faux-pas since he had an A during the game. Much like the faux-pas of the guy who got a Valimaki HC jersey.

Or, you could remove the HC patch too.

Or, you could burn it?

I believe burning is considered a jersey foul. That or tucking it in.

If Monahan is terrified of anything that could happen to him out on the playing surface, he should find another career. A guy who can't handle a scrum is not going to be able to make it through four playoff rounds.

Greater fine. No playoffs for these clowns.

A five minute major might have given us a win.

Legit question, did sureloss take off now that TheScorpion posts the updates? I don't mean out of frustration, just because he doesn't feel the need anymore? Maybe he still posts, and I've just missed them.

EDIT: Yeah, just looked him up and he still posts in-thread updates just not the threads themselves anymore.

My take is that SureLoss was sort of given the responsibility to post updates because anytime anyone else does a few posters would jump down all over them saying "just let SureLoss do it." SureLoss has pointed out a few times that it was no big deal if someone else wanted to post updates. I remember especially one trade deadline that was very toxic in that regard and StrykerSteve was piled on for posting updates, probably a part of the reason why he never posts anymore. But what do I know that is pure speculation.

Suspension are so stupid. The infraction was against the Flames. The winners are the Ducks and The Sharks.

If the Ducks and Sharks pick up 2 pts somewhat easier without Lowry in the Jets lineup and beat the Flames for a playoff spot then the Flames get punished twice.

Lowry's suspension should be the next 2 times the Jets (or the team that Lowry is on) play the Flames.... even if it is a playoff game.

Suspensions are a punishment to the player. Not about trying to "make it up" to the team/player who was wronged.

Take that with a grain of salt. I don't really know what the dynamics are. All I know is I have had no negativity as a result of posting Euro-prospect updates, and I am happy when other people do it. The more people who contribute the better I say.

As much as I agree with the frustration in watching Monny just stand there... I wonder if he was looking at the situation and thinking, "that's a major, for sure... I better not get involved and risk not being available for the PP..."

Iggy would have just ran over there and SMASHED and then figured out the rest later, and fans would have loved it, but then Iggy would have been in the box for 5 minutes too. Plus 2 for instigating. Plus 10 for instigating while wearing a Calgary Flames jersey.

I like to Monny is just more logical than reactive. There's also the fact that he has a somewhat wonky wrist... I dunno. I hate seeing him stand there, but I can also see the logic behind HIM not getting involved.

Given the new opportunity for a ref to review a major penalty call, it is absolutely insane that they didn't take that opportunity, considering it was the end of the period and wouldn't delay proceedings in the slightest. Could've been finished before half the players had their skate guards on.

Uhm yeah, I refuse to cry about the reffing in this league but that's a clear mistake not calling that 5 and a game.

Glass Lowry got two games for that, it what was I was expecting.

Also very very happy Oliver is okay.

Refs buggered that one up, league got it right.

Maybe Mony just didn't want to create a dogpile on top of his prone teammate.

Should have been 5 and a game, in which case he might have just gotten a one game suspension from DOPS (likely not a fine if he's a repeat offender).

Getting two games seems to validate that the two-minute minor was insufficient... doesn't help us now of course.
