Hathaway sure doesnt deserve to come out after that last game. if he plays with that type of energy night in and out he should play 1/2 or 3/4 the games rest of the way.

He's a prototypical 'new nhl' 4th liner.
Energy, moxie, can play 10 minutes a night, can hold his own in a scrap.
I like him in the lineup a lot more than peluso, and at this point maybe even frolik.

Of course. But, he won’t bring that night in night out. He can’t. That’s why these guys play 3-4th lines.

So, this totally misses the point.
Gulutzan made a tonne of fatal mistakes with the roster he had, but that does not in any way mitigate the fact that his options were demonstrably low compared to what Peters has to work with now. That is all.

Lazar, Stewart, shore, jagr, shinkaruk, foo are all out of the league, that's how good of options they were, so good they can't crack an NHL roster. Go ahead and put janko and frolik on there too because so far they've shown maybe they can't crack an NHL roster this year either.
Shinkaruk? Jesus, man. That's up there with kylington is as good as Theodore.
Anyway, it's been a slice, but I think things have finally drifted from funny to absurd.

I think a simple...we agree to disagree would work in this case...belittling a fellow poster is weak...be better.

I think the best way to look at it is top nine options
2017-18
Monahan
Gaudreau
Backlund
Tkachuk
Frolik
Bennett
Jankowski
Hathaway
Ferland
(Jagr)
2018-19
Monahan
Gaudreau
Backlund
Tkachuk
Frolik
Bennett
Jankowski
Hathaway
Neal
Lindholm
Ryan
Czarnik
Dube
It's pretty easy to see Peters has a better hand to him.

Hate to see Backlund get the shaft there but he's your best bet with those linemates, remember even Colborne-Backlund-Frolik were a solid second line.

OMG Tkachuck-Bennett-Neal, imagine the carnage!

And it clearly should get 2nd line minutes over Jankowski-Backlund-Frolik

I want to see Bennett-Backlund-Neal, but when you're going up against that Boston trio, the goal has to be to neutralize them above all else - so the 3M line coming back out makes sense to me.

Backlund's line in whatever form will presumably get almost as many ES minutes as Bergeron's, for obvious reasons.

After a great rookie season I'm surprised to see that Janko can't crack top 12.

Jankowski is being re-calibrated at the moment. No different then Frolik. Peters has snap some of these guys out of last years culture in order to institute his own culture.

Tomorrow feels like a special teams game. Unless of course the Flames lay an egg.
2 teams playing pretty well right now. If either team goes 0 'fer on the powerplay, they lose.

Yeah and this has happened to Johnny too in the past and I blame our whole team for not dogpiling on to these SoB’s when it happens .
We have to be tougher as a team on guys that run around ala Tom Wilson and pull these stunts . Dressing tough guys isn’t the answer when your team shows up after these hits and puts a target on the back of players that think they can get away with it.
I love Neal, Bennett and Tkachuk for this reason.....they stick their noses in everything and draw in the whole team when doing so. I love that contagious fire they have in their bellies.

Yup. That is one of the (if not the) most dangerous lines in the NHL... gotta hope that 3M can contain them enough for the other lines outscore their match-ups.

Jeebus are you ever dense and overly self-indulgent.
Did you even really read his post? Nowhere did he state that Gulutzan's quality of options were equal to or better than what Peters has. The point is that Gulutzan just didn't try out new line combos much. The results were long droughts for certain players. Is that too difficult to understand, or are you always looking to pick apart a post so minutely that it completely disregards the basic intent of the post, throwing a thread sideways?
And FFS, just put someone on ignore if you want, rather than making a silly song and dance about it. We don't have to know, nor do we care.

I generally meant Czarnik started to play a bit of a perimeter game. The speed was still there, but you don't get quality chances. It's also why I think Dube > Czarnik, Neal and Jankowski.
