It was always done in person if you knew where the player was going to be. That's it.. you gave the player a piece of paper, a book, or a picture, along with a pen and they signed it and gave it back to you. Sorry if my request wasn't clear enough. I wasn't sure what the best procedure was to get the autograph... the goal was the autograph, not meeting McDavid. I don't really care if I never meet McDavid. I just would like to get his autograph... and a personalized one to my Grandson would be preferred.

Understood - I just think that portion might be an issue to the Oilers. If you respond with the drop off / pick up idea, they may be more receptive.

I just sent a response to their e-mail response to me telling them that I would be more than willing to send the picture or drop it off somewhere. I also explained what I meant by "meeting Connor".... basically I just said what I said to you. Thanks. We shall see what kind of response I get back.

think of how many sob stories teams get from people asking for something special.
what makes one sad story better than another? you can't help everyone, especially if you want a legit signature and not a fake or some autosign pen sort of thing.

Good luck!
Hopefully that works - otherwise they're a bunch of sonsofbitches...

I think if you reach out to the upper levels of management such as Chiarelli or Lowe via email, you will have a much better chance of getting somewhere. You might need to do some guess work on the email address etc.
The contact us page probably get's a huge amount of requests and the truth is they can't deal with every single one, we are talking about McDavid here, not some prospect.
The other suggestions such as Twitter, having other friends tweet, his hockey agency and waiting outside the hotel and Dome for the game.
In any event, good luck! He is a special player and I am sure your grandson will love the gift regardless!

If you put up a gofundme i’d chip in so you could just go buy the damn thing, and not have to go to all this trouble.
Can’t imagine I’m alone. Best of luck to your Grandson, and good on ya for looking out for him.

I'd tweet McDavid directly and say it is for a kid in BC who can't make it to any games. Let him know the Oilers snubbed you too.
I'd imagine he'd probably sign a jersey and a pic and have the PR department just mail it out.

Got a response to my second email to the Oilers. It was: "Sorry but no."
Too bad you're not Ken King. You might have been able to help.

To those that suggested I tweet McDavid... good idea but I really don't want to go that route where my story would be read by millions of his followers as I'm really not comfortable with that.... way too public. Sure CP is public but nowhere near as public as Twitter. Thanks anyways. I shall continue to explore more private options.

Take it to the media. Seriously, that is just a rude response and any media outlet will run with this story. Watch how fast they bend over and back peddle once the story breaks.

Haven't read the entire thread and maybe this was suggested already, but what about asking the Flames to get it signed by McDavid? Maybe they can help out when they hear the whole story.
