Absolutely. I was one of them. It looks like Yzerman was right about Drouin anyway, since he's done next to nothing since joining Montreal.

Holland will probably get the coveted "senior advisor" role. Basically get paid to have an opinion.

Hockey advisor roles are the equivalent of Canadian Senators. Do nothing, get paid.

Well, nobody can say he's taking the easy way out. He'll have a bigger job ahead of him rebuilding the Wings than he had with the Lightning.
The draft pick itself was always a strange one to me. Seth Jones was a better prospect and should have been the pick. Obviously Monahan would have been a better pick as well but that's with the benefit of hindsight as Drouin was ranked higher going into the draft but was riser and some of them are hit and miss.

It is completely reasonable to criticize a move and still think the GM is doing a good job. Not to mention the fact that CP is composed of a whole bunch of people with different opinions, not a singular hive mind.

Default Yzerman stepping down as Lightning GM. Julien Brisebois replaces him

I seem to recall that there was some smoke around Holland being considered to run the new Seattle franchise. The timing would certainly add up for the Wings replacing him with Stevie Y once it’s all said and done.

I have no idea what happened with Drouin, the dude is insanely talented. I thought he was easily gonna be a 25 goal / 65 assists guy (if not more) on Stamkos' wing. Not a bust obviously, but didn't live up to his pre-draft expectations at all.

This happens over and over with young talents - they are superstars at 18, so everyone assumes that it is guaranteed that they will be stars in the NHL too. But it does not always happen.

Just a few weeks ago, there was ongoing debate about how well the Canucks rebuild has gone, and how they now have a core to build around. But the fact of the matter is that there is no guarantee at all that guys like Pettersson and Hughes will be as good as fans assume.

They are eggs, not chickens.
