If he isn't eyeing a job in Detroit, possibly he is looming forward to help with the Seattle expansion franchise.

Sounds like he is going back to Red Wings org once his contract with TB is up.

Great news for Wings fans. Not so great news for Lightning fans. That said he's going to have his work cut out for him in Detroit and he's leaving a team he built that's on the cusp of winning a cup for team where he's going to be starting all over again.

Even if he's taking over the Detroit job, the timing is really odd. The Bolts are on the cusp of winning, wouldn't he want to see that through?

There are going to be some tough years in Detroit coming up.

He's going to rebuild Detroit.

The city, not the Red Wings.

Opinion of Yzerman has really turned around here. Go back to the thread when Drouin was sitting out, and Yzerman was being roasted as a moronic, old-school guy who didn't understand today's NHL.

Well, nobody can say he's taking the easy way out. He'll have a bigger job ahead of him rebuilding the Wings than he had with the Lightning.

Well that came out of nowhere. Good luck in Detroit, seems like a crazy decision to leave Tampa right now though

It is always a fool's errand to attempt to characterize CP collectively on the basis of a sampling of opinions. As I recall there were also a number of posters who fully endorsed Yzerman's handling of Drouin.

Elated?

Hes likely getting either a promotion or hes made enough money to do whatever the hell he wants.

Ken Holland is not being thrown out with the every day trash. Hes going to be just fine.
