Rittich wins in his national team debut, making 34 saves in 2-1 win against Russia at the EHT, which is more or less preliminary before the IIHF World Championship. Czechs were outplayed as the shots on goal were 23-35, but Rittich managed to protect the early lead. Below is a link where you can watch the whole game, if you are that kind of hockey freak.

Game starts at 23:15

Hypothetical WC scenario:

Canada VS Czech with Rittich in net?

Do we want Rittich to shut down Canada with a bit game, or do we want Peters to show his systems don't "run into a hot goalie"?

Seriously?! You’d hope for someone to beat your home Country because the opponents have ONE player that may or may not ever be a Flames regular?

How about we hope they play in the final game and Rittich is the only reason the game is even close and Canada wins 2-1 or something? I’d definitely be on board with that!

I am more interested to see if Peters’ systems hold up against opponents who have up to 80+ games to scout them.

I would like to see Rittich do well.

If Peters shows how his systems work in an IIHF tournament for the whole league to see before this season is even over ... i'll be disappointed.
