It's the large drop in level of play. Not to take anything away as a I like watching it, but that is certainly why you see more out of some players in this tournament.
Players, especially fringe NHL'ers are giving everything they have in the NHL trying to stick. They're not leaving anything on the table that suddenly comes out in tournament like this.

I agree, give him one last chance to coach pro hockey players, just like Brent Sutter's last days coaching pro hockey players.
I can't think of a more fitting way to close out Gulutzan's pro hockey coaching career.

I mean, if Canada takes Brouwer, it could make him look more marketable for a possible trade, especially if he does well.

Hamilton would go if asked, I'd think. He's represented Canada before in the World Juniors, and both his parents were Olympic athletes. He grew up in the sort of environment in which playing for your country is an honour.

He has declined before IIRC.

Team Canada will be playing their games in Herning, which is 3 hours West of Copenhagen. I'll be at the Canada/USA game on the 4th.

I assume medal round will be in Copenhagen? Would be a shame for anyone attending Canada's games to be in Jutland whole time and not experience Copenhagen.

Group A will play all their games in Copenhagen:
Russia
Sweden
Czech Republic
Switzerland
Belarus
Slovakia
France
Austria
Group B will play all their games in Herning:
Canada
USA
Finland
Germany
Norway
Latvia
Denmark
Korea
The quarterfinals will be split between Herning and Copenhagen (each city gets 2 games). While the semifinals, bronze, and gold medal games will be in Copenhagen. But yeah I agree, it would be foolish to have anything more meaningful than a quarterfinal game held in a Danish city other than Copenhagen.

I'd scratch Frolik off that list. He'll probably need offseason surgery to fix what ever mess that puck to the mouth the took in December left.

Are we listing who all has accepted so far in this thread? So far Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Ryan O'Reilly have confirmed they will attend for Team Canada:

Is McDavid going? He will probably score 10 points per game.

Would have to think Hamilton will be asked. Think it would be a good experience for him to go. He better say yes.

Rittich is confirmed to play for Czech Republic
Gaudreau is on team USA
Backlund is on team Sweden
That’s it I think? Long shot, but perhaps Gillies as team USA backup goalie, it’s really slim pickings for them this year. Maybe Valimaki for Finland if his season ends soon.
