They are nicer...and more expensive.

This seems to be a fairly common map of the "inner city"

Ya, that is probably the more common one, stopping at 32nd ave. But Remax lists Highwood:
http://www.remaxcentral.ab.ca/innercity-calgary/
And McKnight/JLB makes sense as a delimiter. It's about 5km to downtown, which is about 1/3rd of the city radius to the north. When you look to the south Glenmore is around 6km from downtown and Sarcee is about 6km to the west.
Heck, Forest Lawn is included at over 7km, and I wouldn't personally consider anything past Deerfoot "inner city". Same with Bowness at 10km away. If Bowness and Forrest Lawn are inner city, so is Highwood, dagnammit!

Bowness is inner city? Used to be a separate city until 1964.

That map is really generous with the inner city label.

I'd remove Forest Lawn, Bowness and Ogden, and Winston-Heights in that image also includes Greenview which I would remove. I mean it's pretty subjective this map has Highwood as inner city as well:
With urban sprawl, I might have to get use to seeing inner city definition expand as well
There's probably old-timers mad that we're including anything north of 16th avenue as Inner City!

I consider anywhere the Car2Go is available, and UberEats serves as inner city

Not sure what area in Cochrane you live but the extra 15 minute commute for me a day is far and above better than dealing with living in the city, the crime the congestion, the air traffic over the N.E.

Generally though, it is nice community to walk around. Fairly quiet. Close to many things. The "Local" pub on Northmount just closed, and is being replaced by a new restaurant.

Which--the Riverstone?
Edit: Or maybe you mean The "Local." Wow, time to call it a day.

No, The Local. On Northmount north of 40th ave in the little strip mall by the schools. Any word on what the new restaurant is?

Hey, I've lived in in mount pleasant for the last 8 years. While not the same neighbourhood many similarities.
-my daughters go to the highwood mandarin immersion elementary school. This may or may not be your thing, we're a non-mandarin speaking household so a bit of a challenge, but the school itself seems awesome. They learn lots.
-lots of restaurants and even a few pubs around. Nice restaurants, fast food, take out etc.
-easy to get downtown when needed, can walk, bus, car2go, bike..
-confed is an great place to hang out
-we live close to 4th, it's noisy and busy
-housing in MP is dammed expensive
BTW, i've also been to the 7-11 in highwood plenty of times and seems pretty normal to me. They ran out of propane tank refills last time, the bastards!

If you're taking out winston-heights you pretty well need to take out a bunch of the south neighbourhoods as well. Is Chinook Centre in the inner city by any reasonable definition?
