They do have just barely enough room to fit his salary under the cap.

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
This also serves as a good reminder to people, not to buy too much into what Brian Burke says about a particular player.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
#Flames just getting on the ice for practice this morning. Bollig is out there with them.
Indication that they won't assign Bollig if he clears?

With the camp roster at 23, excluding Johnny, I would imagine Bollig wont be assigned to the AHL. Barring other movements by the Flames.
It seems that waiving him and Vey was either symbolic to inspire a better performance, or to increase flexibility if the opportunity to bring in other players arises.

Or more specifically, stop extrapolating their worst fears from fairly innocent comments Burke makes and start to interpret them reasonably.

Per Steinberg a couple minutes ago re likes at practice:
#Flames lines remain: Tkachuk-Bennett-Brouwer; Bouma-Backlund-Frolik; Ferland-Monahan-Vey; Bollig-Stajan-Chiasson
Uh, I guess no assignment.

Or just realize Burke likes to troll people if they constantly bring up something with him.
When Flames fans keep telling him to get rid of Bollig, he is going to tell them that they want Bollig to have even more ice time.
For evidence see his neck ties.

That would be the one Bollig believes himself to be now.
“Maybe a different focus, a different attitude, coming in,” Bollig said. “I don’t have anything distracting me or the shock of a trade. Everything went smoothly for me as far as getting acclimated to coming here and having a place set up. Everything seems to be smoother — the transition — and that lets you concentrate on hockey on and off the ice and everything that matters.”

I get it, you don't like Bollig but please don't make up stories about him pouting. Unless I read the stuff you quoted incorrectly, i just don't see anything about pouting there.
I got the feeling that they put Bollig on waiver to see if there's any interest on him.

Edmonton should pick up Bollig.

I'll believe what I want based on what I saw and you can believe what you want - which is fair.
It has nothing to do with not liking him. To me, after a few months he got his head around that he was no longer in Chicago and moved forward.
That said, I'd put him in the minors now to save against the cap so you're not in LTIR from the start of the season.

24 year old RW. I'd throw him on the top line for god's sake.

All those goals in the AHL don't mean much if he can't skate well enough to get in position to use his shot in the NHL

Said it before in another thread, his skating is not as bad as that tweet made it out to be. He's no worse than either Granlund.

Technically he can't be assigned until he clears waivers, which won't be known until 10 AM MT tomorrow.
All we know for sure is that we know nothing for sure until tomorrow, with regards to where Bollig will begin the season.
