In my opinion, if you don't want to done up a tie, then lose it and hide it out of sight.

The only acceptable way to wear your tie is to done up right ... or maybe have it wrap around your forehead rambo style...

I can't believe there's a 3 page thread about Brian Burke's tie.

It's not even the off season.

Might as well be though. The season has essentially been over for the Flames for a good while now. I'm just waiting for the playoffs to start.

I thought there was an NHL policy requiring that ties be worn, and Burke, being the lawyer he is, said there was nothing in the rule about tying them...

I'm almost positive this is the actual reason he does it. He can't be fined because he's actually wearing the tie.

There have been occasions where Burke is there with lametie and someone is right beside him with no tie. I don't think it's a policy.

like the last draft

Spoiler!

I personally find Burkie's wardrobe malfunction to be hilarious.

God I hate KK's glasses in that pic there. He looks like he's about to head out to play some racquetball.

I couldn't care less about his ties and hair, but I do worry about why he looks like a heart attack waiting to happen. That redness in his face just ain't normal.

It's embarrassing.

The device is yet to be invented that could measure my indifference to Brian Burke's ties.

Obviously not you. Personally I think it looks ridiculous, as do others. Varying opinions and all.

I suspect he just doesn't like doing up the top button on his shirts; probably chafes the neck. The untied tie is a natural extension of the desire for comfort.

I think he wears it undone so he has a weapon to choke someone to death.

I've heard straight from Brian Burke about how this came about. He's done this for decades dating back to his Hartford days.

He doesn't like ties and finds them uncomfortable. So when he's watching games from the press box, he eventually undoes his tie and leaves it around his neck so he doesn't lose it or forget to put it back on. Back then, he would do it up again when he left the press box to speak with people, address media, etc...

Sometimes he just forgets to put it back on (I personally think he's reached the No F's Given stage of his life). Over the last few years people starting noticing and making an issue about it. Which he finds hilarious: "I used to have to go out of my way to annoy people. Now I can do it just by putting a tie around my neck."

So there you go. The saga of Brian Burke's tie.

Silly? sure. Embarrassing? Haha, no.

I haven't worn a tie in probably 10 years, so I support Burke in this endeavor.
