Sucks that both Wotherspoon and Nakladal will soon be pushed out of the lineup cuz Hartley will want to play Engelland and Wideman.

I'm guessing it has to do with protecting Wotherspoons minutes. For the first time, he looks solid at the NHL level. Let's not push him too quickly in a meaningless season just because we are lacking a true #4, let Engelland eat those minutes, we aren't concerned with his development and he's not too fragile so he can take it.

Young guys in the lineup, lots of scoring, solid draft position, moved UFAs for picks...and they have been in most games
whats the problem here? everyone wants a rebuild....until they get one

Yeah, I think there is plenty to be happy with.
All kinds of kids played well: Gaudreau, Monahan, Hathaway, Bennett, Ferland.
Backlund was good again, and Frolik played well.
Wotherspoon and Nakladal continue to look good.
They continue to show effort. And, while I wont cheer for it, they continue to work their way down the standings.
The games are entertaining, so I am not unhappy. Or worried.

Haha, some of you are so depressing.
It's a rebuild. The team makes mistakes and still has holes in the line up, but there are a lot of key pieces already playing important roles.
It's going to get better folks.

Decent first NHL game for Hathaway. Once he settles in he could be a valuable piece.

Yea it's going to be a long end to the season with the same group of downers coming to every game thread to reiterate how poorly the team is playing to end the season.
Must be a fantastic pass-time for those who seem to get off on being unimpressed and complaining about it.

I think this season hurts more because of the unexpected and hopeful results of last years results turning into the new season. Growing pains, but hopefully it turns into something better when they are over.

I'm fine with the loss. Hiller was in net, what can you expect? The day was a rousing success as far as I'm concerned. UFA's got traded away, and we made a killing. Today was all about the long term. Short term pain for long term gain. BT got us a clip full of bullets for the draft, and we're well on our way to a very high draft pick with a legit shot at Matthews. We have a fully competent GM who proved that he's committed to rebuilding this team properly and not taking any shortcuts. If the hockey gods have any decency, they'll ensure we get that first rounder.
I'm not too concerned about watching the team lose to close out the season. We'll get to finally see some young blood and what they are capable of. Those who want to drown in sorrow are free to do so away from CP and can get back on board the bandwagon come draft day.
Today is a good day.

Hopefully we more of our prospects getting a game or 2 at the NHL level. Might as well see what we have since the playoffs are out of the picture.

Lost in the despair is Monahan getting number 20, again, as he has in his now first three seasons. Given terrible teams he's been on 2 or those 3, pretty solid. Especially that first year when he had no help and forced to play top 6 minutes.
Unappreciated for how solid a player he is and how he plays with maturity above his years.

Last season was a case of everything that could go right did go right and in the process created some unrealistic expectations for this season.

Not sure where to ask this, so may as well do it here because this is where I noticed it. In the bottom right hand corner of each post there is either a grey or a green circle. Why do some posts have a green circle and some have a grey circle? Thanks

I thought it was an entertaining game, they imploded at one point pretty bad, but they came back to make a game of it. Reminded me a bit of the last year come back kids. As others have said, it's a rebuild, this is part of the process. Plenty of good passing tonight that was great. Was nice to see Hathaway being physical and getting in other players kitchen.
Heck of a lot better then some of the games we've seen this year. Plenty of positives to take away from this game, I thought the D was the worst of the bunch but even they made some good plays at time, and I'm not worried that Gio and Brodie had a rough night, we all have off days.
I am glad I'm not seeing/sensing any tanking like a few other teams out there. They just aren't ready yet, a few passengers and missing elements. Future looks bright, current day games are still enjoyable, not much to complain about imo.

Monahan has been playing much better lately.
And according to Sportsnet, Monahan is the first Flame since Makarov to get 20 goals in each of his first three seasons

Green circle means they are still logged into the forum, red they are offline. If your asking about what I think you are... hehe I might be totally off base, I'm heavy into the sauce tonight!

I thought Hamilton had a great 3rd period joining the rush and almost tied it with that individual effort.

Time to learn some things about this team. For me, I need to see Hamilton bring it up a level for rest of season. I like the Russell trade a lot but this team needs a strong, solid top 4 defenseman to play with Hamilton. His play doesn't seem good enough to carry the pairing yet at all. That will have to be trade or UFA. As for Wideman, I guess he hangs around until next deadline. Meaning you could be looking at a bottom pairing of Engelland and Wideman. That is depressing.
