Talk about a marginal prospect at best.

If we had traded Russell for him today, he would go to Stockton and be a 4th liner, or maybe not even dress.

What the heck would be the point of that?
Zykov plays the heavy corners game that the Flames are constantly talking about. Well, all kings prospects do. The Kings have basically built their forward group out of that kind of player and it's what they keep drafting so successfully. Every year they find a guy that plays that style in the draft.. Fasching, Zykov, Dergachyov. And that style doesn't always mean points but it's how teams that don't collapse like the Flames did on Feb 27th 2016 play.

So mostly, I like the way Zykov plays. I don't know if he's an NHL talent TBQH but I'd have taken a gamble on him too.

I would've preferred we traded Hudler to the Kings for Zykov and say a 3rd than the 2nd and 4th.

No. I would rather have a 2nd round pick than Zykov. Forget what your 2013 THN draft preview said about this guy, he's not developed as was hoped. If and I mean "if" he makes it to the NHL it's likely at best bottom 6 and the Flames have an abundance of bottom 6 players in the organization. I would rather the team swing for the fences with guys like Shinkaruk than seek out depth prospects like Zykov.

Lots of stops for a young guy. Interesting that he's in high demand come playoffs but can't stick with a team.
Could be mistaken but didn't he play 30 or something games for the Flyers back in 2011 or 2012?
