He's so good that he doesn't need to really work that hard at creating scoring opportunities. The puck ends up on his stick because he stands around watching the play and can tell where the puck is going to end up.

People say he's not flashy, but that's because he's in the right spot at the right time so shooting is better than doing anything else.

This, and when he does do something flashy, he pulls it off. Kid is uber talented.

After watching this video I went back and watched Game 6 vs Van highlights. Thank you Sean, Johnny, Hudler and everyone else for such an amazing time.

And then I watched Ferland v Van video. What a god damn animal. Looking forward to many more years of that.

I always laugh when fans of other teams say Monahan's shooting % is unsustainable. He scores goals two ways - a laser perfect shot Hasek in his prime isn't stopping, and tap ins to wide open nets because he just outsmarted six opponents. His results are completely replicable and he's going to be an effective player well into his 30s barring any major debilitating injuries.

The kid is a straight up beast.
