Draft BPA
Not worried about russian factor
see 3 D in top tier, more forward depth, then balanced
I don't think there are any revelations there
Flames have also been talking up hockey sense and skating for over a year now

I'm sure Brad will be a lot more active this off season or at least try to be. Like he said last year he wasn't that familiar with the franchise. Now that he has a better idea of all the players in our system he should feel a lot more comfortable making deals.

Could be right, but my bet is Hanowski. They may offer him an AHL deal, but I don't think there is any NHL upside there, and if the Flames feel the same they likely don't want to use a contract spot on him.

Hanowski was one of the more consistent players. The rest I agree with though.

Do some psychological testing.
Rules say you can't do physical testing.
Can do some poke and prodding from medical standpoint
More for Treliving's benefit that they bring these kids back rather than any evaluation. (i.e. get to know them better)

Sorry ... today is just not your lucky day!

I like Brad on 960. It doesn't sound like a chore for him.

Goaltending is not a priority at this draft, but if one comes up they think will be tremendous value they will take them.
Could care less where anyone looks like or where they are from, just get the list in right order, then we will do a background.
Have to look at Russia and manage the risk.
But if you can add talent it you do it.

Brad Treliving pre-draft press conference 2pm
Brad thinks other GM's consider him a pain in the ass with his constant phone calls.

expectation is that Smid will be ready for training camp, but will be evaluated as they get closer to camp.
Byron, Jooris and Colborne had wrist procedures and are expected for training camp

he just mentioned Byron will be ready for Training Camp. Doesn't sound like he won't be qualified (or at least not unlike last year)

With there being 5 or 6 good players from Russia, it is good to hear that they are open to taking some of them. I'd be happy with any of Svechnikov, Guryanov, and Dergachyov if those ended up being our selections.

With Guryanov's rise in the draft rankings I wonder where the Flames put him. If they have him higher than 15 and he's there I think they'll take him, especially considering that he has said they fully expect this 1st round pick to take a few years to get the CGY.

I would imagine a lot would also depend on how he answered questions about coming to NA.

It sounds more and more like the FLames will be leaning towards a forward in the 1st round. The top 3 guys (Provorov/Werensky/Hanifin) won't leak through and Brad seemed to imply the other guys (Zboril/Chabot/Roy) might be a reach since they expect someone from their top 11 to be available.

Sakic has supposedly said he won't rule out trading the Avalanche's 10th overall pick. Hmmm....
