dammage, you aren't excited about Poirier at all? Maybe we need some more Poirier clips in this thread...
For me:
#1 Poirier
#2 Hickey
I am excited for Poirier, that speed he has is insane. Just looked flat to me when he was up with the Flames. I will be watching how he does in Stockton next year with a bunch of top 6 minutes.
I guess he'd be #6 or 7 on my list tied with Rafikov. So many intriguing players to watch!
I suppose he's not as high on my list as I don't think he has as big a game breaking potential as the others. Not saying he doesn't at all just so we're clear.
Drew Shore gets crazy underrated on this board. Of all the players with the Flames org who spent time in the AHL this season, who had the best PP/G? Drew Shore. Who is well known for his great face off ability? Drew Shore. Who has size and is one of 3 RH shots among the Flames forwards? Drew Shore.

Where's you guys' line you draw when it comes to considering a player a prospect?
Does waiver exemption status play into it a la Shore, Ferland?
Pro games played? NHL games played?
I mean I suppose Bennett could be a prospect still but since he is a forgone conclusion pretty much to be on the NHL main roster net year I omitted him. Shore and Ferland and Ortio are all waiver claim eligible next year so I omitted them.

I don't think he's under-rated.
This thread asked who are you most excited about?
Shore is a solid prospect, but isn't going to be high on the excitement meter.
Whoever improves the most and shows the most promise next year. I started listing guys but then realized there are a lot of Flames prospects I expect to have good season's next year. We know not all of them will pan out but the fact that we have so many makes me confident we will have a couple really stand out.

The reasons I listed are all reasons he should be higher on the excitement meter than most guys we have. Immediate impact NHL player who has proven he can play
I think Porier is going to be a stud. So much speed, grit, and he's a pure goal scorer.
I've seen too many people down-play him because he didn't step into the NHL and light it up immediatly. We're getting pretty spoiled seeing Monahan, Gaudreau and Bennett step in and make an immediate impact. People need to remember this is the exception and not the rule. Just because a guy doesn't stand out in his first 5-10 games doesn't mean he doesn't have top line potential.
I think he'll need to adjust, but when he does Porier is going to be scary good.
