If they can buy a couple of UFA years that would be fantastic. I would love to see something along the lines of 4 years at 2.5 - 3 million/season.

I think you give him a 2 year (2x2 million) bridge contract to see if this year was a fluke.

I'd give him a four year deal at $12 million.
He may not always produce 15-20 goals a year but he is valuable on the ice at all times. If he continues to score, that is a bonus and makes the deal that much sweeter.
I know that I am on the higher side but I think it will be a bargain to get him for two years at $3 million during his UFA period.

I'd give him a 4 year 10 million dollar contract. Seems fair on both sides.

I think he gets 4yrs/10M. Same as what prust got from Habs. I know there has been inflation, but prust was a UFA, and Boomer is an RFA for 2more years. Also believe this is Boomers career potential, and there is a better than average chance we are eating that final year because of his style of play. For the record though, I will take him on my team for as long as he can play hockey the way he does, even if his production is 5g, 5a.

for me, it's all about term. If I'm Treliving I sign his contract to the same expiration date as Brodie. Whether that's 5x2.5 or whatever... The most important thing is adding him to the core for 2015-2020

Looking at comparable players this year (age, stats, position) you get pending RFA Carl Hagelin ($2.25m), Alex Killorn who signed a 2-year deal last June ($2.55m) and Josh Bailey who is signed until 2018 ($3.3m).
I think it would be very fair value to sign him to 4 years X $2.5 million. Manageable cap hit if he doesn't perform as well, but if he continues his current form it'll be a bargain to have those 2 years of UFA status.

I assume he's going to get around 3 mill per.
He certainly deserves it.
I do worry that these types of energy players seem to often regress after they land a bigger contract. Shouldn't be the case with a guy like Bouma though.

4 years, $11.5M and he gets to be the first to see arena plans. (So he gets signed within 2 weeks, right KK?)

I wonder who the flames and Bouma see as his comperables. He's had a great year but those guys have much better career numbers at the same age.
The flames may also look at players like ... Abdelkader or Dwight King maybe?

I think 4 years makes sense.
The first two RFA years in the $2 - $2.5 range, $4 - $4.5 total
The two UFA years in the $3 - $3.5 range, $6 - $6.5 total
So 4 years @ $10 - $11 or $2.5 - $2.75 per (closer to $2.75 IMO)

How about Roussel as a comparable? Signed 4 x 2.0 after a 14 goal, 29 point season. So how about 4 x 2.5 for Bouma?

Exactly, I agree. The money part will always work itself out, but you need to time the contracts expiring with other contracts on the team. I think the max anyone gets on this team is 4 years, save for Gio, Brodie, Mony, Johnny and maybe one or two others. (Hudler, Russell)
That being said, you offer a 3 or 4 year deal to Bouma, and let him decide if he likes term or money. My guess is he goes for term over money. The dollar value will be dictated by the market at time of negotiations.
This "show me" nonsense people are saying is just a big pile of nope. He's never going to be a superstar, he is what he is. He's shown over the last 2 seasons to be a warrior, not just this year. The points are bonus for the team.

I love Bouma, but this is the first time he is putting up these numbers in any level of hockey. I think he should be in the Dwight King or Kyle Clifford type of contract. 4 years 7.5 million should be fair.
