This guy is going to be in the Hall of Fame three years after he hangs up his skates. I'm positive of it.

As happy as I was to have Bennett fall to us, having Monahan drop to us is beyond fortunate. I think he has blown all expectations out of the water.

The true Flames fans appreciate that we have a 20 year old scaring the crap out of some teams and going against the best centers on each team.

Monahan is under rated.

Like CroFlames said Monahan plays an amazing 200 foot game. His defense is just as good as his offence. Just becuase our #1 center isn't a scoring superstar doesn't mean he's a poor offensive player. Because of that Monahan is comparable to Patrice Bergeron in his early years. Bergeron has only peaked at 31 goals (2nd year NHL) but has an excellent defensive side to his game.
Also should be noted Bergeron's highest point total was 73 (2nd year NHL also), yet alot of people here will agree in saying Bergeron is a fantastic all round player.

And as of today..
Monahan 63 GP 22 G 21 A 43 pts
Bergeron 61 GP 19 G 26 A 44 pts
I think Bergeron's offensive game was hurt by suffering a lot of injuries early in his career.

As for the thread, Monahan hitting 30 would go a long way toward mitigating the loss of Gio.

30 would be really impressive in a sophomore season especially considering a good amount of people thought his goal totals might regress. Crazy to think Monahan could even be a 40 goal scorer in the not so distant future. 50? Won't get too ahead of myself. Guy definitely has hands to put biscuit in the basket though. Always been impressed with his touch around the net.

This is a full on homer circle jerk thread, and rightfully so. There's not a negative thing you could say about Monahan's game and personality.

To re-iterate, he can definitely hit 30. There will be plenty of opportunities to be super clutch in the final stretch of this playoff run. You just know he's going to take advantage.

And it may be early, but he's shown to be the 2nd best offensive player and best all round player of his draft so far. Barkov is very good defensively, but Monahan just does it all.

The fact that he didn't go thru the softmore jynx is as impressive, back to back 20+ goals, just wow. With more talent next year, its going to be fun to watch. My only ask is I would luv to see him play a little more physical but doesn't seem to be his game

We have been extremely lucky these past two drafts with the team's picking above us. I think in a couple years getting Monahan at #6 and Sam at #4 will be seen as HUGE steals. Honestly, I think both could be the best players from their respective drafts. Such a bright future!

He is on pace for 29.5 goals this season. He needs to increase his effort level by 2.5% for the rest of the 19 games to guarantee he scores that 30th goal.

Come on Money! Put in 102.5%!

Monahan actually does a decent interview. The bar isn't set very high among hockey players, but at least not all of his answers are "get the puck deep, keep it simple, get shots on net"

He's got a radio voice too. And TV hair.

A couple of years back, Iggy was sitting at 25 goals with 18 games left, and we were all wondering if Iggy would keep up the 30 goal streak. He finished with 43 goals that season.

I say he gets to 31.
