So Bryz puts LaBarbera out of work in the NHL for the second time in 13 months.

That was a debacle of monumental proportions. Lucky for Smid though.

Right now Smid would be their #1 or #2 defenceman. Could you imagine that?

1-4-1 with a 4.19 GAA and an 0.847 save percentage.....on one of the best teams in the league.

Yikes.

Those stats make Buffalo, Carolina, Edmonton, Arizona, and Toronto gm's think long and hard about putting in a claim.

The NHL is a cruel business. At one point, this guy was signing $6 million multi-year deals and now he is probably out of the league.

He was also 5th in Hart voting, 2nd in Vezina voting in 2010 and 6th in Veniza voting in 2011. He was a damn good goalie when he was with the Coyotes. But like a ton of guys, he fell apart after signing one of those ridiculous 9 year extensions with Philly.

Please Edmonton claim him.

Why would you aquire an under performing headcase goalie and trade off a good goalie ? I don't think that I would want that guy in my dressing room. And now with Ortio hurt, Rammer is all that much more important for us.

Absolutely, Adirondack could use the help.

We should keep Ramo though.

Yep, absolutely cruel. He used to sign contracts worth many millions a year, now he signs deals worth only a couple million a year. It just hurts to see a man kicked like that, especially as we head into uncertain economic times.

Situation with Ilya Bryzgalov is settled. He's being assigned to Norfolk.
