I don't know exactly who to compare him to, but really like what I see.

I kind of wonder, if he does become a top 9 player, how things might (fantasy) play out for us....

Top line players : Monahan, Bennett, Gaudreau (maybe move Bennett to wing?)
2nd line players: Porier, Sven, Granlund, Colbourne, Ferland
3rd line players : Jooris, Byron, Knight, Reinhart
4th line players : Bouma & Friends

Pretty nice..... would still love to have that game breaking winger. Looking at those top 8 names though, that might be better than the entire list of prospects from ~1997-2007 combined. (Who are the top players we can list - Moss, Kobasew, Chris Clark?)

I think we need to continue brain storming.

Was referring to Gio, the other two were already established in the league when Calgary signed them so they weren't as much of a surprise. Having a defenseman who slipped through the draft turn into a Norris candidate is beyond phenomenal, I can only hope Jooris' story is half as successful

And that doesn't include some wild cards in Jankowski, H. Smith, Hanowski, Agostino and Arnold. With the forward prospect depth the Flames need to limit the contract renewals and lengths on any of the forward UFAs (currently on the team or not).

I firmly believe that in 3 years the Flames will have Gaudreau, Bennett, Monahan, Ferland and Poirier in their top six. That only leaves one spot open for another young player or UFA. IMO Bouma, Backlund, Jooris, Colborne should be mainstays on the bottom 6. Maybe Colborne will take a spot on the 2nd line.

The Flames should be focusing most of their UFA money on their defense. Don't re-sign Diaz, have Wotherspoon on the roster. Trade/Buy-out Wideman and sign a better defenseman in the UFA market to a max 5-year deal. Go hard after Boychuk is he doesn't re-sign in New York. I'm sure it wouldn't be easy, but the Flames do have a lot of cap space. Other potential UFA defenseman targets would be Sekera, Bartkowski, Staal, and McQuaid.

I didn't include guys I didn't know how to project, mostly only listed players that either had seen NHL games or seemed to be really close. Adding Klimcheck, et al only really furthers my point... we got a pretty stocked pipeline. (I would still love to see 1 more game breaking scorer added though)

Jooris has to stick now you'd think. With all of the injuries and the way hes playing, hes got to stay.

Isnt it awesome? Patch together a group of layabouts and ne'erdowells and see what happens? Its fun to watch at least.

I'd take this group and their style of play over being 'Clockwork-Oranged' to a Brent Sutter team any day.

I like Jooris too, but with what happened with Sven, lets not get all hopes too high

Maybe... it shows the importance of hunger?

Talent vs hard work?

I don't know how to say it. I don't want to slag the other late rounders who didn't make it, but it's awesome we have sifted out so many huge (not just tiny) diamonds in the rough to benefit us.

It's largely the way the Wings did it, as well as the Flames of yesteryear.

This team could look a lot like the Datsyuk/Lidstrom Wings fairly soon.

The only thing management could do now to sway my faith in them would be to send Jooris down instead of Setoguchi once bodies start getting healthy, or any of the callups to be honest. Even Baertschi looked better than Seto did, granted it's a pretty low bar to aim for
