He's played solid, but he is not a top 6 player and personally im not sold on him being a long term NHLer (will need to see him play in some more games) but hes off to a great start.

For his ceiling, maybe Glencross-ish? Won't get a lot of assists, but will stand in front of the net and score a few goals.

I see similarities to David moss. Versatile player who has size and speed. Plus is good on the forecheck and provides some offence.
He showed great patience on that first goal tonight.

I love that he wears 86. I know he won't be able to keep it, but it's a fun number.

Joo has been a fantastic addition. It wasn't too long ago that the Flames could never seem to find any diamond in rough-type players. Now we have a bunch on the roster.

Jooris seems far more willing to drive to the net and get in the dirty areas than Moss ever did, he never used his size to his advantage. Jooris is also the quicker player IMO, the separation he managed from the opposing D on his 2nd goal last night was very impressive. Never saw anything like that from Moss

I think Moss' best attribute was that he was willing to stand in front of the net, we used him on PPs because of that.
Jooris clearly has way better hands and speed though.

Ya but he was fairly easily pushed aside by the opposing D and never really fought for the puck that hard in scrums. He was a really frustrating guy to watch a lot of the time

The more I see the Flames, the more I think it's bred from culture.
Anyone in the NHL even knowing your name shows you have a ton of skill. Whether it becomes useful in the NHL is a question of drive. I think that before last season, it would be tough for a rookie to think he was going to have much of an impact on our roster with so much veteran emphasis. A kid like Jooris wouldn't be blamed for being lulled into 'why bother' when training in the off-season.
With legitimate full-time NHL spots proven to be up for grabs here, you better bet these kids are finding another gear.
It could also be luck, mind you...

Glad we found this guy. I'd peg him as a rich man's David Moss, with better hands and speed.

It was in the first couple games at Penticton that I was convinced he would see time in the NHL. Everyone talked about Johnny, Bennett and Granlund, but Jooris stuck out as much as any of them to me. Perhaps not in a super skilled way, but he made things happen with his hustle and nose for the net.
I think he has the ability to become a younger Glencross for us. A strong north-south skater who can put the puck in.

Nope. That's not going to be his nickname. Joo said out loud=Jew. Let's not go down that road. JJ or Double J is much better thank you. Heck, I'd even accept Joorsy Boy (Jersey Boy) if necessary, but no Joo.

I like the Craig Conroy comparison brought up earlier. He has sneaky speed that you don't expect, and just is always buzzing around out there. Both did decent in the ECAC (Conroy with one awesome season, but was his senior year, which Jooris never played), and Conroy didn't establish himself as an NHLer until he was 26. I'm not saying we are going to see 1000 games out of Jooris, but he definitely has that drive and determination Conroy did to make the NHL despite no expectations that he would ever be a full time NHLer.

Which one? Giordano, Hiller, Glencross? The core of this team seems to be undrafted players and longshots.

David Moss wasn't a bad player... if Jooris can put up the production without getting hurt every 2 weeks I'd be very happy.
That said... I don't really get the comparison. Jooris is a much better skater than Moss. Moss was more of a big bodied guy who'd score from within 2 feet of the goaline.

Crash and Bang Winger

The part of his game that stands out the most to me is his forechecking effectiveness. He is very smart at reading the attempted breakout strategy of the other team and manages to keep the puck in the offensive zone. This is a critical skill, especially when we dump and chase so often.
