I would not be surprised if Granlund ends up sticking with Calgary. I thought he'd make it out of camp but the injury derailed him. He's good.

The baby flames don't need 9 top 6 guys. They still have knight, Reinhart, Baertschi, Ferland, Agostino and Van Brabant/Wolf. Unless one of them is injured... More ice for prospects that need to play to improve, Granlund is big show ready.

Great news about Granlund. He was playing so well last season with the big club until he got hurt. Hopefully he can pick it up where he left off.

I expect Setoguchi to dress for Colborne. If he doesn't we may as well waive him. He is healthy now, right?

It's his left wrist. No tear.

That is the wrist that he tore the ligaments in when he was with the Marlies.

Losing Stajan will not hurt the Flames too much. I like Granlund, and I think he will provide an energy that Stajan doesn't.

Thanks, I wasn't sure which it was before.
I meant no tear this time. He's optimistic.

That's good to hear. I'd hate to lose him for an extended time. I know that he had an incident after the initial tear where he busted up a bunch of scar tissue. They thought he re-injured it again but it actually improved the range of motion and was the best thing that could have happened. Hopefully this is short term.

Granlund will never play another AHL game. That's my prediction. By December, some decisions will be made on vets. Cap is not an issue after all.

The 2011 draft class has some serious potential to go down as one of the Flames' best.
Sven
Granlund
Wotherspoon
Gaudreau
Broissoit
5 out of 5 are progressing towards some sort of NHL career. What a draft year.

Broissot can only progress to an ahl career at best with Edmonton

Healy. You may have confused blind goalie/analyst Glenn with blind guitarist Jeff Healey.

Doubtful Broissoit becomes anything, but you never know with goalies.
I would rank the other Flames prospects in that draft as follows:
1. Gaudreau
2. Granlund
3. Sven
4. Wotherspoon
The Flames really needed some success from the later picks to boost the rebuild and it looks like they got some from this group.

6 weeks means it's probably a grade 2 ligament sprain.
I had one of those in both of my knees a couple of years ago (skiing). Definitely takes 6 weeks to heal. Maybe he can come back sooner because he'll be rehabbing everyday and he's younger than me.
But it was 6 weeks until I could play hockey again. No way I could have done it sooner. Doesn't feel normal for a while after that. But you can play.
Silver lining to this is we get an extended look at another young guy. But also good that Stajan's not done for the year. We need some older guys to help the newbies.

I'd have Wotherspoon ahead of Sven. But I agree with the first two.
